Search Function

Yep, I'm a "newbie" but just on this forum. Everybody gripes about people not using the search before starting a new topic. Maybe I'm technologically impaired (don't think so, but maybe) but when I search for something, like "lowering my suspension" I get like 400 results that contain everything from radiator leaks to too much fuzz on my seats. What am I doing wrong? Go ahead. Lemme have it. I'm a big boy.

search engine on here is not the best...try using google + insite

Best way is go to google type in "site:www.gm-trucks.com <search items>" don't type the quotes.

 

It can get old, but it works, you could bookmark it probably, ya, http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=s...G=Google+Search bookmark that and then go there and concatenate your search items to the text box.

Go to google.com

 

On the right will be "Advanced Search", click on that.

 

Then at the bottom of this is:"Search within a site or domain"

 

Enter www.gm-trucks.com or whatever web site you want to search.

 

Then the key to weed out unwanted stuff is to use a unique word or a unique phrase or both to narrow it down.

 

lowering my suspension gets 324 results.

 

lowering suspension gets 56 results (remove word my)

 

Then you can search for a phrase which you would enter into the "exact wording or phrase" box in advanced search. Like...

 

lower truck

 

suspension lowering

 

lowering kit

 

Then you can weed out stuff you don't want by entering something in the "any of these unwanted words" box.

 

So say you did not want 4x4. Enter that.

 

So here is the advanced search page with all this typed in...

http://www.google.com/advanced_search?q=su...r=&safe=off

 

And here is the search results for the above advanced search page...

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&as_...i=&safe=off

Usually when you hit search and go into the advanced tab it will narrow it down a lot.
