Hi everyone,

 

Last night someone stole just the glass from our side view mirrors....ugh :lol: . So now we obviously need to purchase new ones. I was looking on ebay to see what I could find.

 

Specs

2005 Yukon XL 1500

4 x 4

 

I couldn't seem to find both the signal and heated for the Yukon, but they make one for the Denali. Would the Denali fit our Yukon? I am thinking it will, but just wanted to ask people who is more knowledgable.

I would think it should fit, but someone else will chime in who knows....

I just called the STEALership to see what they charge and .... get ready.....

 

Driverside mirror and I confirmed that they were giving me a price for just the glass (mirror)

$546.03 :lol:

 

Passenger side

$350.55 :lol:

 

I asked why so much....No comment of course. I said I could get them on ebay for about $60 each.

Yep....GM has to pay those high UAW wages somehow. :lol:

Lame ass thieves! :lol: Shouldn't your insurance cover the cost minus deductible?

 

 

I called our insurance, I was hesitant at first because I wasn't sure if the coverage for FULL Glass included the glass mirriors. She said it was covered and is looking for a glass company right now. :lol:

No your right redvett,Sorry,I didn't mean to offend you...I just get so fed-up with everyone complaining about prices everyday here at the dealership....day-in and day-out thats all I hear...."How much?!" and "No wonder why GM is in trouble"....I explain that thats "not" why they are in trouble.

I try to bite my tounge,be nice,and explain that I don't set the prices...I even try and help people out quite a bit by discounting parts if I can,But even then that usually comes back to bite me! :lol:

Should be covered under your Comprehensive section of the Policy. Also the very reason I keep my deductible at $100 for Comp.

Sorry to hear about that. Damn thieves!

 

Careful with the insurance though. They might help you out now but a possible increase in your rate may come back to bite you. Ask them what would happen to your rate after this particular claim.

 

I would think that the Denali glass would work, as long as it's for about the same year and with the same options. Can't say for sure though.

Boy....I wish :mad:

 

I should add that I have three great uncles who worked for GM,None of them was making less than $30 hr. when they retired in the mid-'90s.

      Without knowing how bad your banging is, one suggestion is the intermediate steering shaft on the steering wheel. These used to be a problem on 800 and earlier series. The feeling/sound was sometimes described as "clunking" and was felt in the wheel. Also there is a plastic piece in the lower column that is referred to as a bearing. Not your traditional looking bearing though. Your ball joints, bushings and tie rods or steering rack (if equipped) are the main point of issues. You never mention total unit miles, only that you've put 60k on it.   You can search the site for help on the ISS description.       Yes I have is set with the 1mm disk (Minumim Tension), for spring spacing and I raised my truck in the rear 1.5". You can go 2mm  and I think 3mm if you need.Minimum. We are on our way to TN from GA.. My wife is driving and stated she cannot believe  and   stated she can not belive the difference.

To cover both they have to lie from the heart.    Government wants low waste oil numbers so the bar needs to be very low on contamination to met that requirement.  Consumer wants cheap maintenance (perceived cost). Again requiring a low bar.  OEM wants high margins at a cost effective warranty rate and lots of repeat customers. More low bar.  Filter manufacture wants the same thing the OEM wants. See the pattern?   Consumers are fickle and also want perfection requiring a HIGH bar. Inconsistent with all of the above. Consumers can be, when the put their minds to it, inquisitive, love winning arguments which requires some useful information to be available to support them. And this is where it gets sticky and the lies begin.    Information needs a solid well grounded point of reference if we are to compare in a useful way. There is a standard for this.  ISO 4548-12. This standard sets the particle size at a specific Beta ratio and darn few are faithful to its intent.    If they don't state the test method they change the particle size or the Beta ratio to hit a perceived favorable standard. They obscure the information in a way as to prevent direct comparisons leaving the consumer with one method. UOA's with an ISO 4406 test result. Pricey and not allot of labs willing to do the work. Lobby work happens everywhere, not just at the seat of government.
