What's a block heater?

General Lee,

A block heater heats the engine block for easier starting in cold weather. Most diesel's will have this feature. When I lived in Maine, even the gas engines had them.

On the new trucks how is the engine block heater mounted. I always prefered the radiator heaters that mount either in the heater hoses or the lower radiator hose because the heater is also already warmed when you get in, so the cab doesn't take as long to heat up. Of course now I guess you could just get heated seats.
