Gm Receiver Paint

Does anybody know of a good paint for my Silverado's receiver that will match the factory finish? If not I'll just pick up a can of black spray paint.

I went to autozone a car store here in Sacramento. And bought frame black it has a very little shine to it. My was rusting. It looks brand new. Make sure you tape it all off.

Rustoleum makes a nice Satin Black with rust inhibitors. Used it on my camper frame 3 years ago and still looks great.

I found that removing the receiver from the truck and putting it in the basement does a nice job of hiding the rust.

Seriously though, Eastwood makes a paint called "chassis black" that would match well.

I just realized exactly what he was talking about, guess I had a brain fart on my initial post.

Anyway, I know of a few people who used those DIY bed liner kits on their receiver b/c they were tired of repainting it every few months.

If the rust is in the receiver, you might try spraying some lithium grease on there every few months. I've started doing that to my Jeep's receiver hitch, and the surface rust stopped. I've done that to my Silverado since it was new, and no hint of surface rust yet.

A friend took his off and had it line-x'd...it does looks pretty cool/different and he has had it like that for 3 years with no issues. He just power washes it when he does the boat or bikes after getting back and it looks like new.

So Rich how close does this match the factory finish?

Krylon Semi-Flat black from Wallyworld works great for touchups. Not too shiny and not too flat.

Don't lie, you just took it off so you'd have room to mount an extra large man-step :)
