Tailgate Locking Handle - 2008 Silverado

Greetings.

Looking to put in a locking tailgate handle. Seen ones manufactured by bully and pop n lock. Neither looks perfect - was wondering if any of you had opinions from experience with either or other suggested manufacturers. Seems like the Avalanche has one from the factory - is it a direct fit replacement? Anyone done this.

Reason I am getting one is that I am about to have a Cap fitted and want the most deterrent possible. I know it won't stop a really determined theif . . .

Thanks for any pointers in advance.

You can get one for your truck from your dealership. They look good, not much different from yours now. Not sure on cost, probably about $200.

Thanks man.

Just found it GM PART # 17802393

Is the only hard part getting it to work with your keys? I've done this with locks similar to Chevy's on my BMW motorcycles . . . just fitting the right pins - is it the same on this?

I add the factory one to my sierra, it is really handy, I got mine off ebay for $50, and all you had to do was put your key in and turn it, and that codes the lock, you just pop off the bezel, and take out the 3 bolts on the back and unhook the rods, and your done

Got mine from my local dealer for $50. Nothing like a GM part if you ask me, so check pricing there first then with the aftermarket stuff second. Good luck!

I had posted an install guide for this - but it is apparently gone now.

It should take you less than 1/2 hour to do the whole thing.

They come from GM un-keyed - you install it, insert your key, turn it, and you're done.
