Blower Motor Problems

Noticed a smell of burning electrical from under the dash when heat/ac was running. felt the wires going to the resistor were hot. shortly after, the blower motor stopped working...i replaced the resistor and bench tested the blower motor. blower motor works on the bench but not plugged into the new resistor. i have 12V at the plug going into the resistor and coming out to the motor. black wire lead is charred on the harness going to the resistor, and on the lead on the old resistor. Not sure where to look next...any suggestions

If the wiring and connector to the resistor is damaged, I would replace the wiring and connector.
