Will I be able to replace the oem 245/75/16 tires on my 09 sierra 2500HD with 265/75/16 tires without the tires bulging in the center? Does anyone run this setup? I am trying to figure out if I should move to the 17x7 inch gmc wheels to run a 265 tire, but I don't want to buy a set of wheels if I can run the tires on my stock wheels without a problem.

I have the same wheels as you and I changed over to 265 BFG AT a few years ago. If I remember correctly, the specs on the tire from the mfr (BF Goodrich) indicated that the minimum width rim was 6.5 inches. I am approaching 60,000 miles on the tires and I have not had any noticeable problems.

i have a 2005 duramax with 285s on stock wheels i have had no poroblem with them other than them scrubing the front bumber some minor trimming and that was all that i needed ride is great and it sets nearly two inches higher than stock so i know it will clear the 265s that you want to mount on your rims.

I have been thinking about taking the twenty inch wheels off of my Suburban, and putting the factory HD wheels (16x6.5)back on with 285 75-16 tires. That being the case, I have been looking at every HD truck I see in parking lots to see what size tires are on the stock wheels. I have seen the 285s mounted on the stock 16x6.5 wheels more than any other tire size despite the tire manufacturer's recomendation of using at least an 8" wide wheel. I have not noticed any unusual tire wear on any of the trucks I have looked at, so I would say that you are going to be fine with your 265s.

They'll fit (265's on 16.5 rim) BFG AT's. BFG recommends not to exceed a 265 on a 16" 6.5 wheel, but I've seen plenty of 6.5 with 285's. You'll get really good traction, but will notice a decrease in mpg's.

According the the GM literature 265/75/16 are one of tire options that the truck comes from the factory with. Mine came with the 245's and I plan to replace them with the 265's when I wear out the 245's. I assumed that GM used the same 16" wheel for the 245 and the 265 tires. It would be good to hear from someone whose truck came from the factory with 265/75/16 tires.

My '06 1 tonner at work came with 265's on steel wheels. in the door jamb it says there 7" rims. my '07 2500 came with the 245's on 6.5" aluminum wheels. when they wear out im going to 265's at the least. maybe the 285's. cost of tires and loss of fuel economy might keep me with 265's. I hate the look of the 245's. funny thing is on old 4x4's from the mid 60's or earleyer I like the skinny heavy lug tires.

fyi: 09 1tonners come standard with 16" x 7" wheels, and have 265's mounted on them.
