I'm curious about the mindset people have on their "new" or "old" trucks - are ya'll babying them? or trying to see how much mileage you can get them to run for.

I personally have a second vehicle, and use that as my DD. My truck is my weekend vehicle.

I'm trying to keep mileage fairly low on my 2009, to keep my trade-in value kinda high.

I voted for babying my truck. Although, I wouldn't say that's accurate. I don't baby it, it's a truck and I use it like one. I don't run it into the ground either though. I drive it everyday, haul dead deer, firewood, pine straw, mulch, pull boats, pull 4wheelers. I take care of it but I don't treat it like a ferrari either.

I'd have to agree with this although I haven't (yet) had either a dead deer or pine straw in mine.

well i bought my truck last year exactly on August 20th of 2009 with 42,000 miles on it. it now has 72,900 miles on it. thats in a little more then a year. i drive a lot and this truck handles whatever i throw at it , towing, hauling, snow, ice, mud, sand, hot rodding. best vehicle ever made.

my 2003 suburban was ordered for my mom new in 2002 with i think 5-6 miles on it. to this day it has almost 150,000 miles of it. it is in near perfect condition inside and out and is now just a garage queen. just another reason why i love GM products.

i do not hesitate to put miles on my truck as its meant to be driven and i know that it will last probably another 100k even if i have to put a new tranny in i gladly will. well, my trucks are old and i keep them until high mileage but i sure as hell get my moneys worth.

I typically trade every 2 years and always find I will get nailed on mileage(for example my white 07 had 50K Miles and was 2 Model Years Old).....I actually bought an 01 Suburban which was headed for the wholesale auction...with a little work that's been done she looks pretty sharp at 160K Miles....I drive it daily.

On my 09 Truck...I put over 6K miles on it within the first 2 months....I knew in order to keep the truck affordable(depreciation, etc) I had to slow down on the miles which is why I picked up the Suburban....the truck now has only 11K miles on it and I have had the Suburban almost 7 months, meaning the truck gets a little less than 800 miles a month... basically at this pace my truck will have around 25-30K miles on it when it comes time to look at trading again, and at that point it will have low miles to trade, or low miles and only a few payments left if I decide to keep it.....but it kills me to leave it sit in the garage everyday

I drive about 35K per year so I'm not concerned about miles. Last Tahoe I had lasted 240K before I traded it in on my Denali. I usually see where they are at reliability-wise at around 125K before I decide to dump it or hold onto it.

I use my truck any time I want to, never once do I think it's putting more miles on it. It's a vehicle, it's meant to move. And face it, it won't last forever and even if it does, you won't, so you might as well use. JMO.

i voted neither, i baby my truck bit i'm also not afraid to put miles on it...a vehicle is built to be driven, if i wanted a lawn ornament i would have got a pink flamingo

I voted neither as well, I have a 2000 GMC Sierra SLT that just hit 160,000 miles and I could care less what the odometer says, as long as I take care of it i believe my baby will take care of me lol

I purchased a truck to drive, not as a trophy. Yes, it's a beautiful / comfortable truck, but why would I have a comfortable truck parked in the driveway while I spend hours sitting in something uncomfortable?

I purchased my truck to use, not just to have. I don't knock those who choose to do it the other way around, but that's my mindset.

My 2007 has been in my driveway for three years plus and has 18K on the clock. It doesn't get driven a lot. Sort of my toy.
