Removed Stickers

I took off the 4x4 decals on the side of the truck (ordered some custom Z71 Stickers) and the "CHEVROLET" off the tailgate.  How do you get it so that it looks like they were never there.  If you get water on it, it runs off like it's there and when it gets cold the truck covers in condensation and you can really see it.  How do you clean it up so to speak???

after removing the stickers and emblems   use some wax & grease remover,  then wax the area but it will have no protection after you use the remover on it.

I have a 2000 Z71, I recently changed to the newer style Z71 sticker. I let the truck sit out in the sun for while, the the original stickers came off pretty easy. After this I lightly used some rubbing alcohol to remove the wax , etc, then went over that with some water. The new decals went on real nice with no problems. They actually come on a template to make the install straight and neat.

When i took the badges off my truck i had the same problem and i wiped some WD 40 over it, cleaned it off and then gave it a coat or two of polish and it looks perfect..

Hopefully tonight I'll be albe to get some 3M wax remover and give that a try.  But, not sure.  I've got to take the truck back to the dealer.  I picked it up on friday and I've got to say that there paint job was very unproffesional.  They really dropped the ball.

1. Didn't put the 4x4 decal back on (no bigee cuz I was going to remove anyway, but none the less they forgot)

2. Did't put the Silverado Emblem on the side

3. Interior and under hood was full of red dust

4. Truck bed was full of dust and white specs (primer???) which I can't get off

5. Scratches going up and down the side, probably from the buffer

6. They got wax or polish or something all over the black rubber trim on the windows and I have no idea how to get that off.

When you pay money for something you expect a quality job.  While the paint job was fine there clean up job was horrible.  I've got to take it back tonight and have them fix it.  However I can't get the 4 hrs back that I spent saturday cleaning the interior and under the hood.  I really shouldn't have had to clean up after them....  Aaargghhh, just had to let it out.

wax on the black trim parts try a white eraser.  I did this because i had white marks on my mirrors and they came right off i didnt think it would work but it did

I'd do it myself but it's not my problem.  I've wasted too much time fixing there mistakes.  In my opinion when you take something in for them to fix they should do the job all the way.  When I get the truck back it should've been cleaned.

i agree

i had a similar experience.  I had some bodywork done after some jackhole dented the side of my truck.  Well 3 days later i get it back get home take out my floor mat and under it is caked on mud and i know it wasnt from me.  Interior was filthy.  I wrote a nasty letter to the manager.  I got a coupon for $200 off future body work (this is a gm bodyshop)

It did come in handy cause a motnh later my mom needed her rear bumper painted cause she backed into a pole.  Came out to be like $20 she had to pay

GOod luck fighting them

I think that I'm going to be writing a letter to the dealer and GM.  There work was really unproffesional.  Not only that but they got buffing compound all over my spray in bedliner and it won't come out.  The guy at the body shop made it sound like it was my fault for getting a spray in and not a drop in.  So now I have my 450 dollar spray that was up until now always clean and shiny covered in white speckles.  I'm taking the truck back tonight for them to clean it back up again and make it look decent.  But, my guess is I'm still going to have to fix it.  Now they are wasting even more of my time, plus I had to get to work early so I could leave early and take it in.

We had a similar problem with our silverado.. It was in an accident that needed both the right door and the 3rd door replaced along with fixing the bed..  We picked it up at night so we couldnt really see what it looked like but we trusted there work since we have delt with them for 10-15 years.. Talk about the crappiest work ever done on the box, it looks like small waves along the whole side which anyone can see but we really didnt care because its a work truck.. But if it was something like my truck i would have told them to do it again or get me a new truck!

Where did you order your stickers?  The one on my drivers side has a small rip on the Z. Be sure to post what they look like when you get them on the truck..  :)
