What would you choose?

Not trying to undermine your poll but you should add a "pc", "neither" or "other" category... given the many choices today and the fact that many might not be gamers.

I still choose my PC for games, online or off.

I was thinking maybe a "both" option would be valid, too, for a lot of people... or an "all of the above" if you add PC's to the list.

I used to be a strictly PC gamer ("casual gamer"). Never bought a single console, even though many of my friends had one of some sort since the atari. Then I got the 360 about 1 1/2 years ago on my HD purchasing trip, and haven't looked back. I don't play a lot of games, but if I do, chances are it'll be on the 360. The gaming puters are mainly for RTS games where a controller doesn't cut it or "LAN/Gaming Parties" that I rarely go to these days.

I didn't get the PS3 because there really was no good reason to buy one after I had a perfectly good xbox with way cooler games. And I've never been a huge Sony fan. :D However, if you do happen to need a gaming console with a good blu-ray player and up-converting DVD player, don't need bistream audio support or 6ch analog audio outputs, and don't care about lack of an IR sensor... the PS3 is definately worth considering.

I think that the PS3 blows blows the 360 away considering that I have 3 360's that have overheated.

+The PS3 comes with the blue ray dvd! The last time that I checked you couldnt touch a dvd player for much less than $600.

+For the games that I like they are the best. only reason that I bought 360 was for Halo 3 and I only play that now when I have friends over.

+If you buy the older 60 gb PS3's it is backwards compatible for all PS2 games.

I think that the PS2 sold a lot more units just because the simple fact that there were like a million games and they still sell the games in walmart and the systems, if you compare that to the reg. xbox. Well Xbox was just stupid cause you cant find any of there games in stores unless they are used and you cant buy reg. systems anymore! I may keep my reg ebox but my PS3 will stay! I dont miss that 360 at all!

I've had 3 xbox 360's and never had a single issue with any of them. I gave them to friends so we could play on Live together, then I just bought a newer one. Gotta have HDMI! But with that said, I do know the 360's did originally have a much higher-than-normal failure rate for an electronic component when they came out, something crazy like 33%. The issues have supposedly been fixed awhile ago (ie. red ring of death), and if you still have concerns, they do have a "special" 3 year warranty should that particular failure occur.

Blu-Ray players are also way cheaper now, around $300 will get you a basic unit. $500 will get you an awesome one. And with the latest hardware at CES 2008, they will just keep getting better and cheaper. But regardless, I would have bought the PS3 for blu-ray usage were it not for the negatives I noted in my original post. I'm sorta picky with my A/V equipment. I mean, if you want a PS3 for gaming and blu-ray as well, it's hard to pass up.

But to say the PS3 is a better gaming system than the 360 or vice versa, well, that's just personal preference. Just go try them for yourself, see what games they have that you like, and buy what works for you. Or if you're a true "hardcore gamer," you'll eventually buy them both anyways. :D

The only games I will probably play are madden and baseball

My wife wants it for DDR (haha we played it last night with some friends). So its a good reason to go out and buy one. Also could care less about the new DVD formats Blue ray HD whatever i dotn even have cable (rabbit ears).

thats tough. the ps3 has a lot of features, which arent even available yet for the 360 (emphasis, yet) supposedly blu ray is coming to 360 since warner bros pledged to be blu ray only.

the only real difference is that ps3 has blu ray and wi-fi. 360 doesnt. alot of games are gonna be on both systems (even mgs4 supposedly). gta 4 has some exlcusive"episodes" for 360. splinter cell: conviction is 360 only, but gran turismo is ps3 only. 360 also has halo, gears of war, bioshock, forza to name a few. ps3 has resistance, warhawk, final fantasies, drake, etc) the best thing to do would be to go to a site, such as www.ign.com and look up all different games that have been released and will be released for the systems. and then decide. also, what about the wii? if all youll play is ddr and baseball, why not get the wii? its only 250 (as oppose to 400), and it will probably serve its purpose well considering you dont seem to be a "hardcore gamer". plus nintendo first party games are always good (smash bros, zelda, mario, etc). ive got one of those myself (my roomate has all 3) and its a blast, i have wii play, wii sports, zelda: twlight princess, super mario galaxy (well, its my bros), resident evil 4, and manhunt 2. the wii also has a huge virtual console they call it where you can download old nes, snes, genesis, and n64 games and play them on your wii.

Would anybody be willing to let me borrow their PS3 and 360 so I can finally decide for everyone which is better?

Got the 360. Played both, but never liked the ps controllers. Plus, I liked the games for the 360 better. Just got done playing Ace combat 6 (i think its out on both), and man is it awesome. Played some COD 4 and it was ok (on a small non-HD tv...). Also, I have never had any problems with the 360.

why does the wii suck? too unconcventional? i think it works great. wii sports is fun, twilight princess was a really good game. resident evil 4 worked really well- best version of the game. mario kart and smash brothers are gonna be really good as well- thats all ive played so far.
