The six speed will be better in all areas, get the six speed.

I guess Ill wait for the 2009 I wish the 6.2 was was an option for the Extended Cab But it wont be at first so the 6.0 with the 6 Speed Trany is the way to go

I didn't think they were going to produce ANY 2009s with the 6.0L motor? I thought everything was going to be either 5.3 or 6.2L.....

Personally, I'm holding out to see just how much difference the 6-speed makes; some of the GM 6-speed equipped vehicles I've driven so far left me a bit disappointed, the shifts didn't feel very refined at all. If the gas mileage is significantly improved, though, I'd probably be all for it.

I'm in the same dilemma, though.... do I want an '08 or wait for an '09? Hmm.....

I also think that the 6 speed is a good choice!

2008 or 2009? That's a tough one. Everything will pretty much be the same except for the new 6 speed. Aren't they having shifting issues with those right now?

That's one thing to think about. I'm still waiting for a 6.5' bed on the CC before I buy a GM truck.

Another thing to think about is wether GM will even be in business. Will there even be any 2009 trucks to buy?

I thought they were closing 4 of their truck plants?

Sounds like many of the shifting issues are perception... My brother works for a GM dealer and says people come in complaining that the 6 speeds shift to much....but that's what they're supposed to do with 2 more gears.

Yeah my reading comprehension needs work alright. :D I see you don't get any jokes now that your beloved Truck company is on its way out of business.

What a great business model they have. Lose 300+ Billion dollars last year, offer to buy everyone out for early retirement before they force them out and now then close 4 plants.

Yep, that's the kind of business model I'd try to follow for my company. One thing I wrote previously to ponder. Will GM even be in business next year?

I'm not going to be as harsh as Jeff, but here is my stance on GM going out of business.

Honestly I don't think GM will be going out of business any time soon. Their free ride is over, but GM isn't doing as bad as people think they are. How many years did GM make profit, and I'm sure they have had quite a few years where the profit was several hundred billion. If GM really did lose money their stockholders wouldn't get dividends. I highly doubt they missed their money.

And even if they did lose money, how many models did they come out with in the past 2 years, the G8, the new Silverado/Sierra, the Malibu, the new CTS, etc.

If you don't know the facts, stop spreading garbage. That's old news from over a year ago that has been resolved.

GM already makes this truck. It's called the 3/4 ton HD. There isn't enough demand for a 1/2 ton CC with 6.5" ed or GM would make one. Stop trolling and get over it.

Such an idiotic statement, I sure hope you're not being serious. That's 4 out of 11 (I think) plants, over two years. Nothing to worry about. Seeing as how GM makes the #2 and #4 selling trucks in America, I think they're going to be around for a long time.

2007: The year in truck sales

Ford F-Series: 690,589

Chevy Silverado: 618,257

Dodge Ram: 358,295

GMC Sierra: 208,243

Toyota Tundra: 196,555

Nissan Titan: 65,746
