Just curious what sort of mileage most guys get on their diesel 2500's.

TIA

I have an 09 GMC Duramax 3500 CC/LB SRW 4X4 and it also seems to get 14 - 18 MPG, sometimes 19. The regeneration really drags it down. I know that topic has been discussed. Overall pretty descent for a 1 ton Pickup.

the tolerances on a diesel engine are so tight when new you wont actually see the best possible MPG for a diesel till your between at least 50,000 to 100,000 miles.

That would explain why the new 2010 Duramax I test drove yesterday was only getting 9MPG :D:wtf::jester:

As for that re-gen crap, I did not know the duramax had it, I thought only the Cummins.

I've driven a few of them, (new) and didn't see anything over 16mpg on the highway. What ever they've done to them, wasn't good for mileage thats for sure. :D Really deterred me from buying one.

I have a 2009 GMC 2500 HD CC 4x4. Only have 2032 km on it. First tank averaged 22 mpg all highway at 60 mph. Since then, with winter coming in and mostly city have seen between 13 - 17 mpg. I have found that if you keep the rpm's below 1500 or 60 mph/100 kph, that your mileage will be good. There is a very good posting at an RV site I visit about the K&N Filter system in Duramax diesels. The bottom line is that the filter lets in too much dust which can impact the vanes on the turbo and do extensive damage. the link is here

All new diesels have the DPF from '07.5 and up.

Interesting how the PITA environmentalists want all this emissions crap on one side but on the other it causes the engines to burn more fuel. :D Doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

We are getting a steady 16.5mpg from the lot with only 26 miles on the clock. We now have 1300+ miles on it. I haven't reset the fuel mileage in fear that it will go down.

On a 2500km trip back home to Newfoundland, the truck averaged 16mpg, 70-75mph most of the way.

Last year during the summer the truck averaged 20mpg, but at 65mph.

I get about 21-22 hwy mpg, and about 18 city. I have a pretty soft foot.

it has about 1500 miles on it, and is a 09 3500 extended cab 4wd, long box srw.

I dont know if its done a regen yet, so am wondering if the milage will hold up after the regen completes.
