Billet Grille...

Ok - this site has be all pumped up to do some mods on my truck, but I want to make sure I know what I'm doing.

I'm thinking of this grille for my truck....

When it says 'overlay,' does that mean the old comes out and the new goes in, or do it just lay over the old one?

Any opinions on other good sites to buy these grills from? These are the best looking (to me) that I've found so far.

I figured out the answer to my question about the overlay.

However, what does that do to air flow? Essentially, there would be TWO grilles on the truck

Its not going to hurt your air flow, not enough to matter anyways. And yes, it overlays your current grill .... more like sits in front of it. Surprisingly it has a nice look :thumb:

I went with the Carriage Works Billet Grill. It is their bolt-over version. Excellent quality and fitment. Here's a picture of it installed on my '07 Silverado...

That's great. Thanks. Do you ever have problems with seeing the honeycomb through the bolt-over?

As long as you have the black honeycomb you shouldn't have a problem unless you are close and looking for it. The one thing I like about the Carriage Works one is that the bars are close to each other and the whole thing looks like it was powdercoated black and then just the front edge was stripped and polished. This helps hide the vertical bars that hold it together. I have seen some where its all bare metal and then you end up having vertical lines also which I didn't want.

Here is an image I had to borrow from the net, I'll replace it with one of my own when I get home

Thanks everyone. All the info I was looking for. I have an order of stuff coming in this weekend, and will be putting in another order next week.

Only in certain light, at the right angle. Most of the time, however, you can't even see through to the honeycomb grill!

I like the looks of the Carriage Works on your trucks. Did you get the smooth brushed finish or polished finish? Where is the best place to buy them online?

I got the polished one from a local shop, I've become friends with them and they always match the cheapest online price I find. Try www.stylintrucks.com or www.autoanything.com a couple of sites I use for pricing.

My response would be the same. My local truck accessories guy takes care of me because of all the business I've brought him recently.

Go for it, my suggestion would be to get the lower air dam valence grill too. It completes the look and don't worry about seeing the honeycomb grill behind, unless your looking for it you won't notice it.
