New Impala

Does anyone know if Chevrolet is going to come out with a new impala? i have heard rumors but nothing official yet. Might consider one if it is bigger when my lease is up on my truck. $100.00 to drive back and forth to work is a little extreme anymore. I don't really need the truck for anything special no towing. Was hoping that they might have the 5.3 in the impala that should get decent mileage. Anyways didn't know if anyone knew anything.

Thanks

Pete

The Impala already comes with the 5.3, but you gotta get the SS trim. As for gas mileage, I'm not really sure how it does but anything with 8 cylinders is probably not what you want if your concerned about saving gas. If you want something with some power you may wanna try the Malibu SS. Pretty nice lookin' and I think thats a V6.

they latest motor trend has a few pages about it and some other chevy's. In the financial and gas mileage crunch, it seems the RWD version was canned, especially since Implala sales are remaining steady even with the new Malibu out. It's formula works. and if you want a RWD large GM, go buy a G8. The Impala will stay FWD, most likely be made more fuel efficient(As will every future car from here on out). will basically just recieve a major overhaul, get styling to make it look like the malibu's older sibling, but have the same basic idea: FWD full size family car.

Sorry dude, the

Malibu SS was gone with the new body style for 2008.

As for the Impala SS(303HP) gas mileage, it only concedes only or 2 EPA HWY to the 3.9L V6. but the 3.9(standard on LTZ, optional on the LT) Does get that 2 better which is a lot with $4 gas, and still has close to 260HP, which is plenty for a car that size.

My wife has a 2004 Impala which is her DD, but we both drive it on weeknights/weekends since it gets twice the mileage my truck gets. SO, in a year or 2, I might have to get her a new Impala SS with the V8.

We got a '08 Impala SS back in January, and so far love it. It gets about 25-30 mpg highway and about 20-25 city, which is alot better than my truck (13/18), so for us, it saves gas. It probably has too much power. Even with traction control turned on, you still have to have a firm grip on the wheel if you punch it anywhere below 50 mph, and even sometimes when passing at 65+. All in all, we like it. Alot more comfortable than any of our friends cars, so we always take it on trips. I say go for it!

I was hoping they would come out with something like the the g8 but a chevy version. The new g8 has some great styling to it. I actually think the old impala like the 04's i think have more room than the new ones. The new malibu's are really nice too. I drove one of those when the truck was in for some work. It had a lot of room in the back. Put my son in his carseat in the back behind me and didn't have to move my seat at all.

I have a year and a half yet so plenty of time!!!!

I agree, I also like the styling of the prev gen Impala's way better. The new ones look like a Camry.

The new Malibu with the V6 is faster than the previous body style with SS. I really like how this car drives and handles. The Impala with a 5.3 is faster than both. For those of you that have one, how's the torque steer with the 5.3? I bet they're fun to drive.

I have never driven an Impala with the 5.3, but I did drive a Grand Prix with one (GXP?). It was a "loaner" from the dealer during a service visit. Hell, I didn't even know it had the 5.3 V8 until I brought it back, I just thought it was a HellaFast V6. That thing rocked!!!

The old lady has an 07 Impala. It just has the 3.5L (Flex Fuel) and it is a ball of fire. It will throw you back in your seat. She's getting 25mpg with E85 in 50/50 city / highway driving. Not too bad. Granted, she is fairly easy on it, but still . . .

I'm 6'5" 250 and couldn't fit comfortably in the 2007 Mailbus. I haven't been in an 08, but I can't imagine a drastic change either way.

I was behind a driver's education car on the way to work this morning. It was a 2008 Impala SS! :sigh: My driver's ed was in a Plymouth Voyager or something :withstupid:
