  2. Some battery saver mode info https://www.700r4transmissionhq.com/gmc-sierra-battery-saver-active/
  3. Battery saver mode activates when the battery voltage is low and/or charging system not working. It shuts off 'unnecessary' electrical items. (to help charging system and/or run truck longer with a faulty charging system) If you were jumping a dead battery, the truck was doing what it was supposed to do. If the battery was 'salvageable' the mode would shut off once charging level was high enough. If the battery left discharged long enough it would not ever recover and would need replacement. Battery saver mode should not prevent it from starting and running. The point of the 'battery saver mode is to get you to a location to repair or replace battery/charging items as necessary.
  4. There are at least 3 methods on a the Denali. if you can put it in tow/haul and the voltmeter (right hand one of the 4 gauges at top of display) switches to transmission temp. It can be switched in/out of tow/haul anytime for a quick temp check. In the trailering app, it has a page that will display trans temperature. On '21's, the trailering app is standard on '21 SLT, AT4 and Denali and is available on SLE and Elevation
  5. Mines a '21 denali. Seat bottom height adjustments for front and rear of seat bottom are separate. Took a lot of fiddling with the front and rear rear height adjustments to get the combination of tilt and height that would work for me. Truck has 2 drivers that like much different positions. It would be a nightmare without the memory settings.
  6. Is it a dmax? Are you talking about the hole at the bottom where the oil cooler is located on the dmax? GM has been making the 25/3500 diesels that way going back at least to the '90's. Lots of threads by folks that are similarly concerned about it, but damage reports are rare. Probably no more common than radiator damage reports. For those that want them, there are lots of aftermarket suppliers of covers/dress-up panels.

  8. Not trying to be a dick, but does the trailer have electric brakes? I've pull several trailers. One is a boat trailer that has 'surge' brakes which of course are not operated by a brake controller. Historically I've had much more trouble with electric brakes on trailers that with the controllers operating them. In few threads recently, (on this forum and others) trailer brake issues, even on new/nearly new trailers has turned out to be an intermittent short in the trailer wiring leading to the brakes. Of course intermittent issues are the toughest to find.
  9. Mine is a 3.0 / 10 speed. It always runs at 180 / 185 when running rural 2 lane -- but it takes a long time to get there. Lots or shorter trips will not reach that temp. Once it gets to that range it can run for hours and not change. Low ambient temps just means it takes longer to get to that range. I'd expect that those seeing 150 temps will get up to 180/185 if drive time/mileage is long enough. I have had higher temps when towing with lots of stops and starts. Of course low speed also means less air flow thru the cooler. Todays trucks have computer monitoring all sensors. It's gonna advise if there is a problem. Of course tuned / modified and all bets are off.
  10. The rough surface is supposed to be in those locations. Any chance the truck drove across freshey painted traffic lines?
  11. I believe you are correct that the scale weights for '21 and '22 LTD, similarly equipped, will be the same. The weight used for the fuel economy rating is based on some average weight of the vehicles sold or expected to be sold rather than a separate calc for each vehicle produced. Knowledge how they sold for '21 may have made it necessary to adjust the weight for the calculation. (more upper trims than expected?) It's also possible the the fed regulation has changed the method to be used in the calc for '22 model yr....(more speed changes in the model, for example)
  12. Part of the rating is the expected weight of the vehicle The typical 'as sold' weights may have changed? (only a guess...). The 'average weight' argument was given as part of the reason given in '21 for the gmc verisions to have lower ratings than the chevs.

  15. 3.0 runs lower oil pressure than you're likely used to seeing. Below 30 at idle/low speed. (2.7's are similar) Kinda annoying when the gauge is same as for the other engines and the midpoint is 60. I wouldn't say it's normal for all diesels, but it is for this 3.0. 6.6 will probably be higher. Some big cummins motors idle much lower. ECM is constantly watching the oil pressure.
  16. Iirc, US+Can production of urea is more than russia. Indonesia and India are also huge producers.
  17. The drag force can be expressed as: Fd = cd 1/2 ρ v2 A where Fd = drag force (N) cd = drag coefficient ρ = density of fluid (1.2 kg/m3 for air at NTP) v = flow velocity (m/s) A = characteristic frontal area of the body (m2) So, for any drag coefficient, the drag force will increase with the square of the velocity.
  18. That's kinda the point. You make the truck do things gm didn't intend it to do and then expect them to pay for your screw up. And because of the extra warranty work caused by you and others doing similar, GM's warranty costs are higher and we all get to pay more for our trucks. I have absolutely zero issue with those that want to modify their trucks. I do have an issue with expecting GM (and therefore the rest of the truck buyers) having to pay when it goes wrong. Imho, if anyone is to supply a warranty for mods it should be those that supply them. There is no way GM should be expected to pay for issues due to someone else's 'engineering' (or lack of engineering)
  19. Not all short box 1500's are carbonpro. Carbon pro is not available on standard bed or long bed 1500s'. Multipro does not require carbonpro.
  20. 8 speed is now only used on the 2.7L T engine. 3.0, 5.3 and 6.2 all use the 10 speed. MQE Transmission, 8-speed automatic, electronically controlled with overdrive and tow/haul mode. Includes Cruise Grade Braking and Powertrain Grade Braking 1 - Included and only available with (L3B) 2.7L Turbo engine.
  21. Maybe somebody thought glowplugs might be a cause for the 'crank / no start' condition? (that's the first I recall of glowplugs being replaced...) For most 3.0's with the condition it seems the ecm update from Oct 21 corrected the issue. Even without the update, it didn't affect all trucks. Sure would be nice to know 'the rest of the story'.
  22. Base trims still have column shifter. 40/20/40 seat has no console, so with the back of the centre section flipped up it is kinda like a bench
