    I also use the winter fluid year round. I would suggest not running the pump continuously, to try to pump it all out ASAP, as that's not a normal use-case for the pump. As well, I would stop running it when most of the fluid is used up, before it's empty, as the pump uses the fluid to cool and lubricate itself, and running it dry is what hurts the pump the most.

    It's not an estimate for "how long before the engine blows up". It's a "when you should replace the belt that is running something important" recommendation, so that the belt is changed before the it fails, and the cost for fixing it becomes WAY more expensive. For situations like this, it's not uncommon at all. IIRC, my 1.6L gas volkswagon rabbit had something like a 100k change recommendation for the belt running the camshaft.

    No, even the most basic code readers can get history codes from the engine computer. And there can be current codes, even if the CEL is off...

    So, they wouldn't hook up their reader to your vehicle, or they did and said there were no codes in the history? I know my truck will store codes for all kinds of stuff, even after I fix the problem.

    Even if the light goes out, you can still go and get the codes read to see what happened.

    Read through the contract right now, and if it's written in the contract that you can't pay it off for six months, then wait. Otherwise, pay it off right away, or you are just setting your money on fire...

    Have you considered reading your owners manual? It's also possible that it doesn't have a regular dipstick/fill tube, just a port that you get to when you are underneath the truck, with a special dipstick to tell you if it needs fluid or not.

    The only "safety concern" would maybe be the backup camera not working...

    My '04 6.0L uses about 1 quart in 5K (7500 km), it's up to 290k km on the odometer...

    Really? It's not a safety concern, as the brake life reading zero is a computer error, not that the brake pads are actually worn out...unless you've driven it 50+ K miles...

    Well, if there really is a fluid passage in that part of the caliper, and it should happen to fail so your brake system fails and you get into an accident, your insurance company will make you and/or the shop that ground it down liable for paying for the accident... Course, the same thing happens if you were to grind the back of the wheels to clear the caliper as well (and the wheel should fail)...

    check for codes. there can be codes, even when the CEL is off.

    Lots of codes can be generated without turning on the CEL. It's defined to come on when an emissions-related problem has been detected, and flashes when an emissions problem is currently happening.

    Well, if you are going to wash a filter that has no documentation that says it can/should be washed, and you are worried about your warranty, good luck with that. Sounds like you bought some bling that you didn't realize was expensive to use...

    Well, which would you buy? $100 for a new filter, or $100+ for a GM tech to do a half-a$$ed job of washing it out?

    Basically, they make your engine a bit louder. It's been decades since manufacturers put a intake tube on that was too restrictive for the engine.

    You've been running your truck with fuel in the oil for 20K miles? That's a huge mistake, as fuel kills the oils ability to lubricate... IMHO, you need to pony up for the oil test ASAP, and get the problem fixed, as your engine is getting more and more damaged from this every day...

    Will it keep running/reset the timer if you work the radio or push a button, turn on the light, do something in the cab?

    When I bought my '04 Sierra 4 years ago, it had 180k km with about 350 engine hours. Obviously, it must have spent it's life on a high-speed oval...
