  1. I would just go with what you take out. They always did well for me.
  2. Nice! Welcome to GMT. Perfect color!
  3. This was a while back but some interesting information. Black Bear Performance CAI testing
  4. I've been running AMSOIL's transmission fluid in all my GM vehicles from pretty much day one. My 2002 Silverado with the 4l60E was on dexron III for the first 60k miles until GM came out stating that dexron VI was backward compatible and then I switched it over to AMSOIL's ATL fluid, which meets/exceeds the dexron VI, HP and ULV fluids. Had 200k on the 4l60E before I sold it and towed occasionally a 4Klb trailer. Our 6l80E in our Suburban, at least I think it is a 6L80E is running AMSOIL's ATL as well as now my 2019 Silverado with the 10sp. All are shifting great, no issues. To me, having a quality fluid is key. GM uses Mobil for reasons I don't know but would bet would be for the least expensive of the alternatives out there. AMSOIL does serious R&D on all their fluids before they recommend use in an application. Hours upon hours of in house testing. To add, my daughters 2012 Cruze and my 2104 Cruze diesel, totally different transmission than my daughters have been running AMSOIL fluid again as soon as I could get it in. Keep in mine, my 2014 Cruze diesel transmission runs at 220°F according to the Scan Gauge II I use to keep track of that temp and my regens. A friend changed his 2012 Cruze over to AMSOIL and before he had to sell it from an accident, it has 180k on it.
  5. What I don't understand is GM specifically stated when they introduced the new 2019 model that the 8sp was a new updated design as well, but here we are in 22 and there are still issues with it. Now the 10sp is a rock solid setup.
  6. It is a gamble but for the seal, I would just replace it. $800 to just fix it is high. Around here to have a rear main seal replaced on a 4x4 truck is right around $400. I'm not a fan of oil additives. If it is leaking then fix the leak, not band aid it. Like you already stated, there were other leaks and you took care of them so why not just go all out and have a nice dry engine again?
  7. GM Genuine Parts 15-11125 Water Pump Outlet Assembly with Thermostat
  8. AC thermostat for our Suburban was $35 on Amazon. From what I found out after the fact, you can change the actual thermostat and not have to get the entire housing.
  9. Same here. I even got one that was $120 for three years. I should have taken that one but not sure if it would have transferred over from my daughters car to mine.
  10. How many miles on the truck and has the transmission fluid been changed?
  11. It is my understanding that you will only get the hardware. All the other stuff to actually tune is software and you have to get the license or credits for that. Black Bear can set that all up. Having a Black Bear tune on my 2016 Suburban and had one on my 2002 Silverado. To me it is well worth it. They can't do to much past 2018 models if I remember correctly. Just have to contact them or go to their web site to find out.
  12. + I'm on several FB groups and have seen numerous posts on individuals starting their new diesels in these extreme conditions with no issues. Diesels have come a long way and as long as you run a quality synthetic oil starting will be just fine. I know having it plugged in helps with getting it warmed up quicker. But until gets things straight on the heater cord there isn't much you can do.
  13. With that much fuel dilution, RLI lubricants is the only oil that I have see that can handle such high fuels. Might want to experiment with them and see how it goes. You can find their products on Amazon, not all of them but some.
  14. Any DEF will work fine. The main thing is to get it as fresh as you can. It does have a shelf life. If you have a truck stop that has it at the pump that is the best, fresh, kept underground so it is not in heated area and is the least expensive.
  15. To me I think GM is just using up stock of bulbs. The light didn't make any difference in my rear cam when I changed them out to LED. Plus the old bulbs are still less expensive and when you sell millions of trucks that adds up to the total cost.
  16. Yes, we are blessed to have Facetime and the like now. When I was stationed over in Korea, no such thing as well as with being over in Saudi in Desert Storm. It sucks being away from family but the troops now have it way better than those of us back in the day. Heck. I Facetime my mom in PA all the time. She really enjoys it and so do I. Merry Christmas everyone!
  17. Just my take on this is that a recall isn't going to happen because the supply chain can't handle it. For now easier to take what comes in as needed. Not a good thing but like the Takata airbag thing. They didn't have the parts to accomplish all the vehicles needed to fix them. Just thinking out loud.
  18. Did you buy it certified from a GM dealer? Just curious if you did. Our 2016 had a leaking shock, our extended warranty paid for that and the condenser leak. Those two repairs paid for the warranty and then some and I was only out $100.
  19. One other product you can use and it doesn't effect the factory coating. It also drys to a wax film and that is AMSOIL's Heavy-Duty Metal Protector.
  20. I actually purchased a new pan and had the drain plug installed in it. That way I didn't have to wait to have it installed with the bottom of the transmission open for a long time.
  21. I'm not up 100% on them but could he have the CASTEC heads? Not a bad gasket but the cracked heads? They it would be an easy upgrade to new heads and go from there.
  22. Just and FYI but I check mine first thing in the morning after it sat all night and the level is full, any other time if I don't let it sit, the level is down half or more on the dipstick. This is on my 6.2.
  23. Makes me mad that GM stopped setting up for FF on the new 2019 and up trucks. You would think they would continue like they did on our 2016 Suburban. It wasn't FF but the connector was there, just needed to hook up a sensor and open up the tables. I would rather run E85 than regular gas. I do mix it but only at a 40/60 mix at the most on my 2019 with the 6.2.
  24. I couldn't get the pan off on our 2016 Suburban without taking down the exhaust from the manifold. Lucky that it wasn't hard to do after that and the manifold nuts were easy to get off. I then installed a drain plug so that I could do drain and fills later on with ease.
