There were 250,ooo vouchers at a cost of 1B approved, the house has just approved another 2B worth of benefits but has to be approved on by Senate (monday) and of course Obama has to sign any bill, which he said he would.

A couple of questions since we do not have a program like this up here.

 

What qualifies as a clunker?

 

What happens to the clunker?? Is it destroyed, so it cannot be wholesaled?

 

What is keeping the dealers honest here? (Raising prices to increase profit?? Guess it does pay to shop around.)

I did it Monday, piece of cake, traded wore out Caddy for a Pontiac Vibe for my son. With all the rebates it was good deal, $20,200 sticker, cost me $11,900

yea i just read your post...

 

just think how many people did the exact same thing, there is going to be a lot more, more reliable cars on the road now..

 

so if 250,000 people already did this and Obama approves another 2b thats another 500,000 more vehicles... which would be nice and really stimulate the economy i think..

This how they should have handled the housing mess. Offer $20,000,$30,000, $40,000 off your taxable income if you bought a house. The guy who needs to sell it now has buyers and the buyers will have good enough deals to entice them to buy. Better than just handing our money to the crooks on Wall Street.

Cash for Clunkers is a bullshit CAR WELFARE program from the Greenie Left that is pure symbolism and designed to do nothing but remove some of the "evil" SUVs from the road (which is a major issue for them).
