16-inch Wheels On A 2008 Silverado?

Interested to know if I can run 16" wheels on a 2008 Chevy Silverado 1500 crew cab that comes with 17-inch wheels from the factory...

Are the brake/wheel components that large to require 17" wheels, or are 17" just for looks? I like the Moto Metal 951s and 16" wheels (and tires) seem more economical in general.

Thanks,

-Steve

This has been addressed a lot in here. 16 will not fit due to the newer models having larger brakes.

Crap.

Well, thanks for the info - glad I didn't buy blindly.

Should have searched - my apologies.

Okay - to make this thread worth something...how about some reviews of the Moto Metal 951s?

Good durability? Balance well? Clean off nicely?

Thanks,

Best looking wheel I have ever seen....IMO. :nono:

Mine are Ultra "Lightning"s, which are very similar, but Ilike the 951's better.

No worries on the search. Stuff happens.

Moto Metal seems to be well made. I've seen a lot of their wheels sold locally. I like their styles. The 950 and 955 look good too. Make sure you buy the right offset. +25mm on a 17x9 works perfectly.

Stick with 17s and the tire prices won't kill you.

I actually wanted the 951's for my truck, but I got a hell of a deal I couldn't pass up on the Helo's and Nitto TG's.

Those wheels look great in your signature, BuckFeverZ. Looking at a crew cab 1500 right now, same color as yours with nice tint to the windows and a Leer topper that I think would look great with black wheels. Just trying to weigh my options.
