Any Towing Problems With

Recommended Posts

Hey, Im looking into purchasing a 26 foot travel trailer ASAP...i was curious if anyone has any problems with the NBS's towing?(07 1500 5.3 CC). My main concern was the electric fans while towing? how do they hold up as in keeping the motor running normal temp?

Thanks

Rock solid, you should be fine. What camper are you getting. I'm actually getting one too. I found a great 2007 Jayco Jayflight 29BHS. Like new condition.

5500 lbs should be easily within that truck's capability. Use a load leveling type hitch with the sway damper and electric brakes. Drive nice.

I pull a 5600 lb 26 ft Outback regularly, and have no problems. You do have to use a little common sense on steep grades of 7 or 8% (Downshift manually to keep engine in powerband)

Keep the shifter in "3" and turn on the trailer mode.

As for heat, I never had a overheating problem, even in mountains. Be sure your truck has the HD tow package with tranny cooler.

I use Firestone ride-rite airbags to smooth and level the ride. About 35 lbs of air does the trick.

You will get folks that will say you need diesel power, but not true for that size camper.

Get a GOOD Brake controller also.

As for a fifth wheel, I consider that a no-no with a short box C/C truck. Some do it with slider hitch though. If I decide to go fifth wheel, I will go to a 2500 long bed.

One other thing. you did not state what axle ratio you are running....
