Clay Bar Question?

Yes, always wax afterward. And you can probably get a megs clay kit at advance for about $17.99...little cheaper than their website, and no shipping.

Hmm...just realized you're in canada...maybe one of your local auto parts shops has it cheaper?

I am going to get a clay bar kit, and wondered if you have to wax after the treatment?

This is something I have never used before, so I also wonder if the bar will last one treatment??

i would definatly wax after using clay.... i am a painter and my best suggestion is DONT DROP THE CLAY!!! and use a hose to keep the area u are workin wet!!

if you get any trash stuck to the bar u can really mess up your paintjob. fyi when it starts to got dirty u keep ballin up the clay and flatten it out again it works better.......... as a painter i love clay it works great for surface overspray too hope this helped!!!!

Without wax, your car is naked!!

And as much as we like naked... it isn't something you want for your ride.

You really should use a clay bar lubricant, for Meg's you'd want to go with the Quik Detailer (not the Ultimate Quik Detailer). Water isn't very good at lubricating, in a pinch you can use soapy water, but it supposedly breaks down the clay. It was said once, but I'll say it again, if you drop the clay, throw it away.

The kit comes with a lubricant< I am pretty sure it does.

If you buy the kit, it does come with the lubricant, the bar, and some towels. But water was previously suggested, but it's not recommended by most any detailer.

Get a kit at the local auto parts store for general use. If you know your paint has been neglected you can get a higher cut bar from the body shop supply store. Generally, the OTC one will work fine, they are all about the same.

Use any quick detailer product for lube. As stated below, water and soap/water mixture is not recommended.

If you drop it, an experienced detailer just works the part that touched the ground up and pulls that clay off. No need to buy a whole new bar. But do this at your own risk...since you are new, throwing it away is probably best. If you keep lube on there you wont drop it!

And yes, you always wax after you take a bar to it.

A detailer on www.autopia.org suggested diluting the lube 50/50 with water, he stated using it straight is a waste of lube and not necessary?

Never tried it myself, just letting you know of an other option. Good Luck.

Sounds like a guy trying to cut corners and save a dollar.

I'd use it as delivered.

I don't think that is the case? Unless you have money to burn and don't mind wasting it, then use it straight but he stated it still works great when it is diluted and you have less of chance running out before your truck is complete.
