I didn't p/u my truck on Fri. because parts weren't in for (rear audio) which was not installed at factory.

Anyway, the truck is a Silverado LTZ 6.0 L with Max Trailering Pkg., what I was wondering about was the rear springs. They look the same as a standard 1500 without the Max Trailering Pkg. How does this allow for 1200 lbs.

trailer tongue load weight as opposed to 1000 lbs. without the trailering pkg. ? Also, does anyone have the integrated brake controller and how do you like it ? I didn't get this option, but it looks so good in the new trucks that I may order it from parts. Thanks in advance for your answers.

It's impossible to determine spring rates by looking at the springs. Rates can be very different and external appearance similar.

I have a friend that sells trailers. He has tried every brake controller on the market. The Tekonsha P3 is by far the best, and better than the GM unit too.

That seems to be the general concensus everywhere that the Prodigy and P3 are the top of the class controllers. If I ever need one, I'm going with a P3 unless they come out with a new one that is even better.

Have the integrated controller in my 09 Sierra and really like it. Its very easy to use and I think looks better than the add on ones

It also has to do with the gearing....For '09 w/the 6spd tranny the "non" NHT Max Trailering Pkg. trucks have 3.42's,The trucks WITH the NHT Max Trailering Pkg. have 3.73's (For '07-'08 w/the 4spd. tranny "non" NHT trks had 3.73's,NHT trks had 4.10's)

cannot get a factory i b c from gm i tried it. have to go aftermarket.i have tekonsha works great

With the IBC you either got it when GM built your truck or you get something else. GM won't sell the parts to install it and there are a lot of parts you would need to make it work.

Is there a difference between the MAX Towing PKG and the HD Towing PKG? The reason I ask is I was under the impression 2009 Sierra 1500 trucks equipt with HD Towing also came with disc brakes in the rear. However, my 2009 Sierra 1500 w/HD Towing PKG has drums in the rear.

LTZ/SLT crew-cabs get the 6.2) It also includes...."G80" locking differential,"Z85" trailering/handling suspension pkg.,"NQH" autotrac transfer case (on 4wd models) "AXN" 9.5" hybrid rear axle,"GT4" 3.73 rear axle ratio,"JD9" front and rear disc brakes,"Z82" H.D.Trailering pkg.,"T96" fog lamps,17x7.5" aluminum wheels,and P265/70R17 On/Off road tires.

(For '07-'08 the NHT pkg. included 4.10 axle ratio on 4x4 models as noted above in earlier post)

Now with that being said...On ext.cab models you do NOT have to get the NHT pkg. in order to get 4-wheel discs,You DO have to get both the 6.0 engine and Stabilitrak (and Stabilitrak is now standard on V8 models)

 

My truck does not have the NHT pkg.,but I do have 4-wheel disc brakes because I ordered it with both the 6.0 and Stabilitrak.

I'm going to get with the dealer I purchased my truck from. The sales person asurred me the upgraded HD Trailering PKG included the following: HD stiffer rear suspension, 3.73's gearing, Stabilitrak, trans cooler, additional motor oil cooling.

Your alright,The Z82 pkg. does include upgraded suspension (either Z85,Z71,or Z60) the locking differential,and any additional cooling needed.

Stabilitrak was std. for '09 on V8 models.

The gear ratio is the only thing not included with the Z82,That mainly depends on what engine/transmission combination you have,but also other options as well.

You can check your SPID label in the glovebox to see what axle ratio you have.....GU5 is 3.23,GU6 is 3.42,GT4 is 3.73,and GT5 is 4.10
