2003 Gmc Weird Electrical Problems

Hope someone can give me a hint as to where to look.....or just go straight to the dealer?

This is a 2003 2500hd duramax diesel. I started the vehicle after driving about 8 miles to the store. Noticed first that A/C was not cooling but blower was running. Battery problem and vehicle door lock indicators were lit. Lifted hood for cursory inspection...serpentine belt was good and everything looked and sounded normal. Considered turning off engine but decided to drive straight home. Took note of all gauges (see below). At home I tried restarting the engine. It would turn over and catch but immediately stopped running. Tried several times but engine still would not restart. All fuses in passenger compartment tested good.

 

Indicators that are lit: Battery, Vehicle lock symbol, low fuel warning

 

What does not work correctly: A/C compressor does not engage but blower works

fuel gauge reads empty and low fuel light is lit

water temp gauge reads minimum

oil pressure reads zero

cruise control indicator light not lit, but cruise control does work

engine turns over and catches but will not run

 

What does work correctly:

Volt meter reads just under 14v

Trans fluid temp gauge

Tachometer

Speedometer

Cruise control (but no indicator light)

left and right turn signals

radio

driver information center display (no errors shown)

4WD indicator light (showing 2WD)

electric windows
