Middle Console

I purchased a truck back in feb. The middle console lid was broken off the hinge. I made them fix it before I picked it up. Well there idea of fixing it was to through 2 little brass hinges on it. Although I didnt like the idea after I saw it. It worked and there wasnt much I could do about it. Small price to pay for the deal i got on it. Well one of the hinges snapped the other day and the screws are pulling out of the other one because its only plastic. This must be a common problem. What has anyone else done? Is it possible to get a new lid? I dont have any idea how it mounts on there because i have never seen it factory. whatever was there is gone.

What year is the truck...there were different version of the console based on the year..

I would be guessing a "2005 Chevrolet Silverado Crew Cab"

You're talking about the one that flips open to the side, right? Or the one that flips open toward the back? I don't remember what that truck would've come with.

Same problem here man! I called the stearlership and was told the part required to fix the hinge would be $160!!! Heck, I can get a whole new console for that price!!

 

I have taken apart the console lid and i think that a piano hinge with self taping/expanding screws would do the trick. I have not done this yet but it seems like the easiest and most logical solution besides paying BIG money to fix a bad design!

That was my original idea, but i thought I would see what others have done. I think im going to have to do that.
