hello i just had a engine swap on my 99 jimmy SLT i had a out of work mechanic do it may hhave been a bad idea, well not sure yet he seems pretty knowledgeable anyways he finished the swao last night and the engine will not start, it will not even crank no noise nothing, lights and radio are on, but not a sound. he seems to think it has something to do with my alarm. can this be possible or could it be something else. it was a used engine from a wrecking yard. they started it for us before they toke it out so we can make sure it worked. any information or advise would help....

 Factory alarm or aftermarket alarm?? Did he do any rewiring inside?? Theres the starter kill for aftermarkets alarms under the drivers side where the steering wheel is. Otherwise sounds like the mechanic doesnt know what he is doing and just used that as a excuse.

If he was a good mechanic, he could have got it running. He could have verified if the starter kill on the alarm was the culprit by simply using a voltmeter. Looks like this shadetree guy is out of work for a reason..........

STart simple. Make sure there are no unplugged connectors. Does the power wire to the starter Sol. get power when you hit the key? does it have an aftermarket alarm? if the alarm is aftermarket, it should be easy to bypass. if it is a factory alarm, what does the "theft" light do when you try to start it? Are you able to get codes out of it.

I'm pretty sure OP posted yesterday that they had found a wire beneath the dash disconnected. They reconnected it and the truck runs fine. Anything posted past Monday night sometime are lost.
