I just bought a 2007 chevy silverado Z71. It has 265/70/17 tires and I would like to put 285/70/17 tires on her, will they fit(i.e. no rubbing etc.) on my stock truck or do i need to crank-up the torsion bars? Thanks for the help.

They'll fit with very little clearance. You'll not be able to chain up the fronts, but I don't think it was possible with the 265 tire anyway. I just put 285-70/17 tires on my 08 1500 a few days ago.

Thanks for the feed back. Nice Truck BTW! I'm looking for the same height, tire size etc...You know just a bit bigger than stock but not so crazy it affects everyday driving. One more question Spurshot... Did you have to install the Bilstein 5100 shocks to fit the 285's? I'm a big fan of Bilstein (had them on my 2500 D-max) how does the 5100 affect the ride? Is it still as smooth as factory?

I have the 285 Nitto's on mine. I did the Readlift 2.25" kit and still had to trim a little (the rear of the fender well, bottom). They rubbed when backing with the wheels turned. They look great. It did take a little toll on gas mileage, though that could be more from lifting the front end. Overall increase in tire diameter from the stock 20's was about 1". I also did the Bilstein shocks and really like them. Certainly not the Cadillac ride but that's not what the truck is for. I think it actually corners as good, if not better, than when the OEM shocks.

My 5100 front shocks are set one groove up from the bottom groove. That should be a bit over 1/2" lift according to Bilstein. I don't think it needs any lift to accomodate my size/brand/model tire.

The 5100s improved the ride quality both, front and back. The front would porpoise up and down on the freeway like the shocks were wornout, even the first day I bought it. The back hammered up and down like a jackhammer with the stock shocks. The Bilsteins really helped on both ends.
