How Do I Remove My Grill From My '08 ?

Hello. I bought an SLP bumper cover. It's supposed to be able to be installed with the grill in place - but it did not go on the way I want. I want to remove the grill and do it right.

How do I remove the grill? It looks like there are some clips. I tried to compress them with pliers, to get the tabs in, but it did not work. Also - is the top of the grill secured differently?

Should be all clips and they are a pain. I had a hard time removing mine when I put in the fog light kit. Post some pics of your cover when you get it done.

I recently did my Sierra but judging by the looks of your Silverado, I think it will be somewhat different?

As far as the clips go, they are easy, just gently squeeze them with pliers while gently pulling out the grill in the areas in front of the clips, they will come right out but it won't be obvious until they are all loose and free. Good luck

Thanks Guys. That gives me hope. I'll give it a shot.

I'll post pics when it's done.

I can see the "tab / prong" on the top side of the clip. Can you guys tell me if there is a prong on the underside of each clip too?

Also - what worked best for you - regular pliers? channel locks? something else?

Thanks.

There are tabs on the top and bottom of each clip. I used needle nose pliers. Pull out while compressing the clips and once out, you have to hold them out or they will pop back in. When the last one comes out, the grille will surprise you as it comes out.

Thanks again Irv and dlewis. I will give it a shot this evening. I have full box of ban aides and some Bactine on standby !!

No problem need for speed, glad I could help.

Did you happen to get it installed last night?

Irv - I sure did. Thanks to the tips you guys provided, it only took me 15 minutes to remove the grill.

I created a new post with pics of the install.
