17" Rims To 16" Rims

I have a 2007 GMC Sierra 1/2 ton, 2wd, 5.3L, Tow package, and its a std cab long bed. I have the 17" rims and wonder if with the tow package, I can fit the 16" steel rims on it? I am unsure if the brakes will be in the way or not.

Don't think so, I believe the reason GM went to 17" wheels is due to the larger caliper.

Your brakes will be in the way. Minimum wheels size on the newer trucks is 17".

What size is the spare?? That will tell you right there. My truck has 17" on it, with a 16" spare.

Just checked, the 16" steelies, won't fit on the front. It rubs the outside of the caliper. Man that could have been a good buy for me, four new cooper discoverers with the gray steel wheels $50/ea!!! Too bad they didn't fit.

That's what happens when some moron puts Bare brakes on an H2 and is too stupid to know the stock wheels wont fit....

 

and I quote..."I just put new brakes on there and they're squealing WTF"
