Couple Weeks Ago I Got Black Bear Tune.. Looking For Muffler: Gibson /

SOmeone is sellingme a Gibson Superflow muffler for about 130 bucks shipped.. I was looking into getting a Flowmaster 50 SUV..

 

What would you all get? intake is still stock and justin did tune it for a CAI so i will do that as well.

 

Is the gibson better than FLow master? Do they sound really different on the 5.3 from the flowmaster?

 

Just wondering, I cant seem to find a good GIBSON sound clip of a NBS 2001 and up 5.3 truck or SUV.. There are plenty of Flow master sound clips but nothing of Gibson..

Flowmaster will have a better sound in my opinion. But personally I wouldn't stick either one on your truck. I'm just not a fan of flowmaster pared with the 5.3. On my 2003, I lost low end torque.

I found the opposite with my flowie on my 4.8L

I find it pulls better. Weird.

Mine has dual 2.5" outs. so you would think I should have lost some power...

I really did it for the sound more than anything.

 

Either way....

Magnaflow is probably the better bet, and if I had to do it over I would have probably went that route....I just wanted to be different at the time

and get the newest thing out there, and I'm still happy with it. Really that's all that matters I guess.

i have a catback and a magnaflow. it sounds great and the pitch seemed to change a little (for the better) after justin did a tune. but i really like it. not any annoying in-cab noise at highway speeds. just my .02

Can't say about the Gibson, but I can recommend the MBRP cat-back system. Put one of thier "Cool Dual" sytems on my 2009 Sierra 5.3. Perfect! Nice deep smooth "throaty" sound. Not nearly as loud as a Flowmaster 40/44 series, yet it'll let evryone know your "in the throttle" when you romp it. No drone at any speed either.

 

Highly recommend it for that 09 5.3. Took me about 1-2 hours to remove the stock and bolt-up the MBRP.
