Why is it that in 2007 GM still offered the old body style but called it "classic"? Have they done this in the past? Like in '99 or something? I think it's cool that they did that, I'm just wondering why. :D

yes they did it in 99 also. Its basically to get rid of their inventory

They have a hard time shutting down all the plants at the same time to retool them for the new models without running there dealers short on inventory. For the past couple decades they have systamatically shut down only a portion of production plants at a time, to change them over to the new models.

 

Once the one plant is online for the new model, the other can then be shut down and be retooled for the new models as well. I think its really made there transitions go much smoother. Ford does this as well. I believe ford calls there carry over models Heratage models. Where GM calls there's classics.
