Silverstar Ultra's Vs Piaa

I want to get some brighter bulbs for my '08, but don't want HID's. I saw PIAA Xtreme White Plus bulbs on Stylin' Trucks for about double the price of the SS Ultra's. Are they any better? Has anyone had any expirence with both of them?

I've had both and honestly the Silverstars give a whiter light than the PIAA's. PIAA was the only option when I bought the truck. I'd go with the Silverstars as they are just as bright, give a whiter light, and are half the price. Now I'm running HID's and won't go back. They are awesome.

Silverstar's look nicer too. They are more "white" while the PIAA's look a little more "blue"

How much $ would I have in HID's? They're just in the dim lights, right? I thought I heard somewhere that they have to warm up or something, and when locking and unlocking the truck the headlights flash and that's not good for HID's. Is that true?

All HID retrofits are illegal. Your vehicle has to have come with HIDs installed from the factory for it to be lawful (even vehicles with HID as an OEM option cannot have the factory housings installed as a retrofit). The police around here have started cracking down.

*EDIT* Oh forgot to mention, since you can't just remove the HIDs or you have no functional headlights, the cops are just impounding offending vehicles on sight. Food for thought.

HID'S FTW ALL THE WAY!!!!!!! I have them im my lows and fogs and will never go back to the halogen ones! You can take change the approach setting so the lights dont come on and take out the fuse for the DRL's, thats what I did and mine are fine. just my 2 penny's for what its worth?? :)

Well, I don't think I'm going the HID route. Sound's like the PIAA's might be a little better than the Silverstar's?

I run SilverStar Ultras in my high beam. When brights are on I can definitely see the the distinction between the yellowish low beam and the white high beam. They work great for me. Haven't used the Putco. I am working on getting some SilverStar H11.

i Use the silverstars, I think they will please you.. I dont even use my Hi beams anymore cause there is such a difference between these and stocks, definately a very white light.

Andrew...This must be a Canada thing or you're smoking some reall good stuff....My neighbor works in law inforcement here where I live and knows nothing about HID's being against the law...

He says you can't have lights with greater wattage than stock or have off-road lights like KC's without covers on them while on the road....But he laughed when I asked about HID's

Either will work fine for yo and both will look much better than your standard bulb. It's really about preference. I happen to like the look of the PIAA's better as they seem a little cleaner to me and I have had nothing but good experiences with them.
