Ride,of A Extended Cab/ Vs Crew?

We'll i was out tonight, bored, so after a full detail on my truck i decided to go out and ride around for a lil while. After a healthy meal at Sonics, i rode by the chevy dealer and started to think about my next ride. Yeah i have while till this one is paid but always like to think about the next one. I'm very , very satisfied w/ my truck as an extended cab, 2 wheel, drive. Yes the 4x4 option would of possibly been the only thing i would of changed. But i was looking at the wheel base of the crew cabs and freaking price on those suckers, and was wondering if the ride is worth it. Is it harsher ride? or smoother, What's the pros and cons,, of the larger cab. Just me and the chick for now,,, ( i hope for a very , very long time). And love the ride of the extended cab, would i see a large diff if i switched to the crew cab??

Thanks fellas,

Dave,

I am sure this isn't the answer you were looking for, but it is my understanding that the NNBS ECSB and CCSB have the same wheel base. The CC comes with a shorter bed. I am sure this does affect the ride though, with the different weight distribution, but not due to wheelbase, unless I am confused.

I have a 09 ECSB myself, also 2 wheel drive. I personally like the 6.5ft bed. I do a lot of fishing, and the fishing rods don't fit in the bed as well if it's less than 6 ft.

I am curious as well to see if people who have driven both have noticed a ride difference.

I've owned both and I really can't tell a difference in ride. :) And yes, the crew cab and extended cab 6.5' bed have the same wheel base. Now I don't know if the wheel base is the same for the extended cab with the 5'8" bed?

I have driven both and I currently own a crew cab. I would have to say the crew cab is a little bit of a smoother ride. Maybe like glen said, the weight distribution may be a factor. Just my opinion.

we'll thanks for the replies and yes i have also noticed the rods go in w/ a nice fit vs getting bent some !! lol

I love the ride of mine and have 0 complaints about the truck. Course i'm comming from owning 5 rangers in the past w/ one colorado as well, so if feels like i'm driving a caddy,,lol

38K Plus for a crew cab 4x4,,

pretty pricy but if they are about the same ride then i'd deff consider it next time,,

GPS Silv,, ur right, i've heard that they are about the same wheel base in the past as well, now that you mentioned it!!

I agree with that; when I bought mine I was debating back and forth between an ex-cab and crew, and the ride smoothness was one of the reasons I went with the crew cab. I don't regret the decision unless I'm trying to park somewhere with small/tight spaces. Then the crew being overall longer makes it a pain to deal with.

I would think there are about 25 other factors affecting ride before Ext/Crew  (tire pressure, road conditions, shocks, etc)

The wheelbase is the same on the 6.5' EC and CC. I wouldn't see how the 5'8" EC could have the same wheebase. That'd require a 4th box design, and I wouldn't see why they'd do that. And you don't see many of those any way.

But these 12' wheelbase trucks are a PITA to park. :uhoh: I sometimes have to go back and forward 6 or 7 times to get out of a tight spot. :D But it's all totally worth it! :)

Are you backing in to spots at all? I always back in because it prevents me from doing the 7 point turn. This means both pulling into and out of spots.

Actually most times I do back in. And most of the 7 point turns are if I do park headfirst. But sometimes spots are so narrow and if another big vehicle parks on both sides, even backing in isn't enough. Especially with how little room they leave between rows of parking.

From my '07 NBS sales brochure...

The Crew Cab with 5'8" bed (only 1500 CC box option in '07) and the Ext Cab with 6'5" bed both have a wheelbase of 143.5"

The EC with 5'8" bed has wheelbase of 133.9"

The EC with 8' bed has wheelbase of157.5"

Would this be different in '08?

Thanks for posting,, We'll so that confirms what i've been hearing! THey just look like a diff wheel length when u try to get them side by side, but other then that sick price diff guess they should ride together. For those of you who have the crew cabs, would u like to get another one?? Or possibly Ext, cab if you have do it all over again??
