I have an 01 Yukon SLT, 5.3 V8. I pulled it into my garage to change the windshield washer pump and i also replaced the sepentine belt. When i put everything back together and went to start it up, it ran for a good 5 minutes. I shut it off and went in for dinner. When i was going to head out later than evening it started as i was about to leave it died on me.

When i start it, it idles at 5000 then slowly decreases then dies again. I can fire it up again after a few tries sometimes it makes it to 5000 sometimess less and dies again, if i try to give it gas it hesititates and dies again.

I've tried to reset the passlock system ( 10 minutes in run position, 5 seconds in off, then start), I've replaced the IAC valve, checked all connectors, checked all vacuum lines, had the alternator and battery tested, disconnected the MAP sensor and tried starting it. I also disconnected the washer pump, and confirmed nothing was pinched behind it. I checked all fuses in the engine compartment and drivers side.

There are no trouble codes, no service engine warnings. I connected a OBD2 reader and nothing came up.

I am open to any suggestions. Like i said, it ran perfectly fine before i changed the belt and washer pump motor.

From what it sounds like your saying, it ran good just after you changed everything too.

I am wondering if you hit the crank position sensor while changing the belt.

Oh it could be. I haven't played with an LS is some time.

Just truing to think what he could have hit that's causing it to spike to 5K rpm.

Try unplugging the positive lead of your battery for 2 min to reset your ECM....see if that helps.

Thank you all for your responses. Because this is my wife's ride i had to get it going ASAP...i didnt want to sleep in the dog house. I gave in and brought it to the "Stealership". Turned out to be the Fuel Pump. I guess it was working but not well enough to keep the fuel coming. The fuel pump alone was close to $840 CDA, I managed to get one for $397 CDA for the exact same Delphi part through a friend. The dealer will install it and change the fuel filter for $620 CDA WOW...I guess having them do it is way better than me doing it in my garage on the cold cement floor...plus i've got a full tank of gas. Hope this post helps someone out there.
