Trailer Plug

Hello, I have a newly aquired used 2006 2500hd . There is a preditor brake controller that lights up and appears to function. I went to use the trailer for the first time the other day and noticed that the trailer lights did not work. When I purchased the truck the plug was full of dirt and corroded, so I cleaned it . I picked up a used one at a salvage yard, and still nothing. I read through the owners manual, and not sure if I had the correct fuse, but all looked good. Any reccomendations?

Thanks

hook up the trailer to another truck for a quick check .or use a jumper from a 12 volt battery or from the truck plug see if a light come's on .they may be in the wrong location on the for your truck in the plug .easer still hook up the trailer to another truck so you can test .

I'm gonna assume your referring to a OEM 7-pin connector.

While looking at the connector, the pin at the 11 o'clock position should be for your running / park lamps. Does this pin have power?

If no power, check fuses(it is fused) and wiring if needed.

If power present, the problem is with the trailer pigtail and or wiring.

Good Luck.

Do you have brakes or just no lights?

I need to play w/ it some more, After pressure washing, I have lights, but the signals on one side dont work correctly on the trailer. It is too cold and wet to worry about, at least the break lights work, as well as the running lights.

GM doesn't put the fuse in for the trailer power wire in at the factory. You have to put it in yourself. It's often taped to the trailering harness they toss in the glove box. Mine was.
