Wingnut Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 My wife's 2004 Altima goes through crankshaft AND camshaft position sensors like it was a fuggin SPORT. I get to put the third ones in there here in a few minutes. 80k miles on the car. Camshaft sensor takes literally 3 minutes to swap out. Super simple. Crankshaft sensor though...That sucker is on the back of the (sideways mounted) engine. It's done entirely by feel. /off to kick rocks
Nytemare Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 That's what you get for buying Jap Crap... That is a little excessive though...I feel for you man...I have worked on a couple of those engines....everything is just packed in there.
Wingnut Posted November 22, 2009 Author Posted November 22, 2009 Eh...It's a good car. Comfortable and (usually) dependable. It's long since paid for. Not bad to work on. I'm just kind of kicking myself for owning a code reader and being good at the internets. If I'd have not plugged into her car (I insisted), she'd have just taken it to the shop she's been using since she was 16 and had them fix it. I'm screwed meow though. I've started down the path of working on her car instead of letting her take it somewhere...She's rough on her junk too. I put a mirror on it last week
Roofer Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 I hate working on cars. Too tight of areas to work in. I learned long ago to let my wife just bring her car in. It helps that her Father is the service manager though. ;) Another reason I went for the Ram instead of the nicer GM product......

Then you should be stripped of your Mod status and banned from the site forever, or until you actually have a GM truck again.

I swapped that sucker out in less than 15 minutes this time. But the code won't go away...I clear it...It's back in less than a minute. STUPID SENSORS FOR LOSERS@!@!!@ONE!
Wingnut Posted December 2, 2009 Author Posted December 2, 2009 Well...I couldn't get it tracked down. Replaced all sorts of crap on it too. Spent about $400 in parts and whatnot. So I put it back together and she took it down and traded it on a new Camry. She picks the most boring cars of all time. Anybody know of any decent Camry forums? Google is failing me in a big way right meow.
grampadirt Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 You've already got another car...why not let her drive the GTO?.....wait,you did say she was rough on cars
Wingnut Posted December 3, 2009 Author Posted December 3, 2009 She'll drive the Goat when I get hit by a bus. And even then, only after she attends a 6 month long driving seminar.
