Will this work together?

I think I've decide on the following for my 2500HD crew cab truck:

Alpine 7394 HU

Infinity 60.5 for front doors

Infinity 4x6 plates for back doors

10" sub in custom built box under rear seat

I can't decide between the Image Dynamics or Infinity 100.3se sub.  I can only get .64 cubic feet of sealed box under the rear seat and the Infinity says to use .75; will that make a big difference?

What sub amp should I use?

Thanks for your input!

not going to amp the mids and highs?

the IDQ's are great subs. good for tight accurate bass.

never put a sub in a encloser that doesn't meet its air space requirements.

ever thought of using a 5 channel amp? then you can amp everything like they should be.

I thought about a 5 channel amp but I am getting the HU and sub now and the door speakers sometime later ( a few months).  I know I need to change out the door speakers, too, but I gotta try to stay w/in a reasonable budget right now.  If I amp the mids & highs, do I need to put in new wire to the door speakers?

What 5 channel amp would you recommend?

What sub amp if I have to go that route for now?

Thanks for all your help!

Wouldn't the built in amp of the Alpine 7894 HU be enough for the components.  60W x 4 peak power.

edit:  my bad didn't notice you were getting the 7394.

Jason,

Yes, the 7894.  It is 60(max) 27(RMS) X 4, isn't it?

I will use that to power the doors for now.

don't be fooled by the deck power ratings, i can't say that enough. they may rate 60 or more. but its not even close. more like 10 watts per channel. plus the quality is horrible. if you want clean sound then you have to use a real amp.

i don't have the picture, but if you look around (circuit city used to have it displayed in their car audio section) shows you the differences between a deck internal amp and a real amp.

its always a good idea to run new wire to the speakers in the door. but you could just run wire from the amp to the wiring harness behind the head unit and tie the amp into the speakers there, so you avoid cutting the stock wires. just don't wire the head unit's speaker outputs.
