Counteract?

I was wondering if anyone has ever heard of this CounterAct rust protector (http://www.counteractrust.com/). I have seen it on a couple of vehicle build shows including TRUCK U. It seems like it might be one of those gimmick parts. I was just curious if anyone had any experience or knowledge of it?

never herd of it before . and after reading that site I still don't know how it works. I think I'll stick to the old oil spray's. I know they work.

I put one of the counter act systems on my 09 sierra this fall. The science behind them is true and shell gas stations have them on thier underground fuel storage tanks, i know this because my grand parents own a shell and someone from shell comes every couple years to change the batteries. I also oil spray spray my vehicles every year. will have to report in the spring once the truck has experienced its first winter. rust doesnt happen overnight so its hard to tell at this point.

Yeah they work well. All the snow plows use them....but on a much bigger scale.

 

The site does kinda go all around how it works, but never actually comes out and says it...that's kinda fishy to me. Sounds like they're protecting they're profits.

 

I do know one thing about them though...from experience (I seen this done at the shop) A guy popped it on his car, two weeks later the powder coat fell off his wheels.

 

I am a big fan of spray on stuff...and always will be. I think I would use this product as an extra protection if I lived in the "Rust Belt". Other than that I would only go with spray ons.

Where I live now...I don't do anything, and the black paint is still on my frame and the places that it has chipped off it has some light surface rust...my truck is an 03. I clean up the chips ad scrapes on the frame every so often and hit them with some Tremclad.

For 400(ish) dollars, I think you could probably get a spray coating that has tangible evidence that it really works.

I had one on my '02 YukonXl, and the day I traded it in, there was no rust (that's after 6 Canadian winters).

I put on on my current truck as I bought the unit on sale ($200) and installed myself. Figured for $200 it would be good to have.

Reading your post has me considering one, at $150 a yr for oil spray, one of those would be paid for in less than 3yrs.

Dealer wants to charge me just over $1K+tax to install Counteract on my new vehicle. Feeding me stories of how any rust spots are 'covered'. Somehow I'm thinking it's perforation only. Pretty expensive unit, and the dealer seems very "hungry" to sell it to me.

I am looking to do the same, as I have pressure washed all the mud off the truck and I need to protect the metal, as there is already a descent amt of rust. I found this product, any experience with it?

Rust converter is the stuff man....I use to use it all the time out east. Its actually harder than paint. Once converted the rust takes years to come back...and as soon as it does you just hit it again.

I can't say if this works or not, but...this has been around since the 50s, that's as far back as I remember. If it was great you would think it would have caught on a little better by now???
