4.56's Installed

Hey everbody, 4.56 are in now. Big differance over 373 with my 35 inch tires on. Picked up a diablosport to calibrate speedo. I had to set it at 28 inch tires to get the speedo set to my gps. Is there another way to do this with the diablo?

I ordered Motive gears with complete install kits on ebay for 470. Cost me 600 to have them installed complete with syn. oil. This is a lot of cash but it really woke her up, I think I could smoke those Nitto's if they werent 300 each. And it will help motor and trans. My wrencher said I should get a locker for the rear end because the stocker wont take a lot of abuse. Maybe I will down the road.

good deal man I was guessing about $1000.00 to do it. Im just waiting on these 305/55/20s to wear down some more then regear when with the new tires. (still undecided on 37 and 4.88 or 4.56 n 35s.) Are you happy you went with the 4.56 and nor the 4.88?

well I pull my sleds in the winter and quads in the summer anywhere from 2 to 8 hours up north so i wanted a little higher gear. At 70 mph its running about 2200 rpms on the highway which is not bad. If i live in the city and did mostly town driving I would go with 4.88. I think a little higher might use more fuel but it push more oil throughout the motor which is good too. Thats just my thoughts. The only thing I regret are the Nitto's. There are like driving behind a jet or an airplane.

That's about what my RPMs are at 70 with 4.10 gears and stock 265's. What part of MI are you from? I am originally from the Flint area and still travel back there and to the U.P. at least once a month.

I live in Charlotte which is about 20 miles from Lansing. If u go to the UP you can get me some snow reports.....

hmm... I was thinking that the 4.56s with 35s would be like the 3.73s and stock 265s.. Is it shorter gearing? I do ALOT of highway driving. I live near pittsburgh and my company is near philly so im all over the PA turnpike. I really wish there were good 36x12.5x20 options (i have only found one). I would def go with a 36 but instead forced 2 decide between 35 and 37... I dont tow much, i dont even normally use my trailer i just put mx bikes in the bed and a couple bikes n gear @ 500 lbs isnt antyhing to worry about.

There is 37s, 38s, n 39,s why no 36s...

atleast one good thing about those mud grapplers is they are prolly going to wear fast n u can get new ones on there!! (not really a good thing heh). If I were going Nitto, i think the new Trail Grapplers are hands down the way to go. The Terras arent meaty enough, and the muds are just obnoxious. Looks sweet, but obnoxious for on-road driving.

Im either going with trail grapplers or the hankook m/ts next time. wana see what kinda mileage the trail grapps r getting first.

How much lift do you have? I have 35's and they rub on the inner fender even after i trimmed the plastic with a 6" BDS.

I was thinking about Mickey Thompson...

I have fabtech so about 8" of lift.. I am also going to put the 1.5" zone body lift on when I do the tires, if I go 37's I will need to run some adjustable struts or coilovers up front to give a lift of another 1 or so.

Which mickeys?? the ATZs? I looked at them, i think the trail grapps n hankooks look a little more aggressive and are still a good on road tire. The hankooks can do 50k mileage, and the trail grapps are just too new to get good mileage reviews, but nitto says they are designed to last long. They are actually really cheap as far as 20" mud tires go aswell.

atz, heard good things about them. Or something quieter so i can hear my radio and exhaust again. Lol

I was looking at ATZs myself but i think this time around I want something a little more aggressive looking. I am currently running (and love) the pro-comp xtreme A/Ts. They are the similar kinda of tire as the ATZ where they are designed to fill that niche of in between a mud tire and an a/t. They are running really quiet even with almost 30K on them, and still have alot of tread left. They will absolutely last 50k (tread wear warranty was 40K). I think the atz would be the most similar tire out there to the procomp xtreme a/t and they are priced similarly as well i believe. It just depends on which you prefer the looks of, the tread depths are just about the same the pro-comp might be 1 or 2 16ths deeper to start but not much. I just think they looked more agressive and yield the same results.

Like i said I do most of my driving commuting from pittsburg to philly so its all 70mph 400 mile trips.. Then I still can take it in the mud and slate dumps on the weekends. I just climbed a muddy powerline this past weekend that my friends 2010 wrangler couldnt do. My buddy was in the bed and said it was ripping really big stones right out of the ground and launching them, and they are A/Ts.

I would love to see an ATZ in person to compare with the pro-comp xtreme and see how they stack up.

    • Interesting, I suspect I would have fueled up in Lee Vining as the day prior I would have filled up either in Laughlin or near there and maybe again before I entered Death Valley and once out the other side late that evening as I kept on driving into the night up near Lee Vining. Next morning I most likely fueled up in LV before heading over Tioga Pass into ( as I refer to it as "Yose .... Mite" 😁 ). And again that was 19 years ago but the price then must not have jumped out at me like the 5 bill a gallon theme of nutty cult hippy country Big Sir or head so far up their rear Aspen. I'd be curious to know where the highest prices are in the lower 48, I probably would not be far off to guess somewhere in Cali forn ie. Coldfoot and Prudhoe bay may have those prices beat but that is a whole other world up there and when prices are more normal elsewhere that is about what they can be up there I believe in no mans land. Anyway interesting that the 395 corridor is hosing people and the thing is, its tourist season and its not like there are a lot of competition options when driving up that highway from what I could see. Yup, big ole Boaterhomes and various other RV's ahead and behind me at the Yosemite entrance gate and they have to get their fuel somewhere.
    • Those can be high, as well as the big California cities. The ones that will pop your eyes out are the 395 corridor on the Eastern side of the Sierra Nevadas. Lee Vining, $7.19 for regular and $8.89 for diesel is what the Google said right now.
    • Correct.  2019-2021 model years are serviced by a different p/n.  19420611.  Recall 2021s use 19420611.   The recall engines 2022-2024 model years are serviced with 12740076.     The difference between 19420611 and 12740076 is GM changed injector size for 2022.  The injectors are smaller on 12740076 with smaller injector bores in the cylinder heads to match the smaller injectors.  So you can't install a 19420611 in a 2022-2024, and you can't install a 12740076 in a 2019-2021.     Both engines are the replacement engine p/ns that are in the L87 recall.  So both of these are the updated engines.     Here's a version of the L87 recall with the p/ns for all the parts needed.    RCRIT-25V274-7075.pdf   Note it shows 19420611 and 12740076 with an asterisk to a footnote "Use the VIN and the GM Electronic Parts Catalog (EPC) to determine which part to order if two or more part numbers are listed for the same part, as it may vary by vehicle options."
    • Looking for advice from this group. Took my flawless 2020 6.2 TB to an unnamed shop for routine rear brakes and oil change. Tech forgot to put oil back in after the full service and needles to say, destroyed my engine.  It’s all on their shop video so they are responsible.   I had my Chevy dealer do the analysis and they confirmed its compromised and said engine replacement. The manager said they only get GM reman engines from GM with full 3 yr warranty and the one they would put in is not same as what’s they are swapping out on 21-25 for recall.    I am looking for advice why that would be a different engine because obviously I had the good 6.2 year and replacing it has my concerns with that recall for 21-15   Also what’s the pros and cons of accepting the engine swap vs telling the shop that bricked the truck to pay up so I buy a new truck. I’m concerned about stigma resale eventually if I just decide to get rid of it after the swap or other issues showing up after the swap out.
    • Just looked up my records.  I've never gone over 5000 miles between oil changes.  At 46K miles, I have 10 oil changes.  I hope that will help.  I also installed the disabler last year.  I've still had a few times when it didn't seem to engage (which I can tell because the start stop feature kicks in), but for the most part, I think it's working.  For some reason, GM did not include the number of cylinders running in the information screen like I had on other models.  In my Cadillac, it shows me when it's running on 4 cylinders on the fuel milage screen.  I can't find that on my '21 Denali.
