How Do I Reset Change Brake Message?

Recommended Posts

Dang Steven, I figured you would know. The message on the cluster says. "Change Brakes Soon"

Heres the catch. I changed the brakes and the ones I took off were barely even worn down. I think the message was triggered when I hit 30K.

I hope someone can help me reset the message.

Is that like a "change transmission belt" message?

How the heck would the computer know the pad thickness??

That truck doesn't have it, I don't know what the message is but it isn't change brakes.

Some vehicles (Cadillac is the only GM brand I know of) do have brake pad wear sensors. Not the little metal kind that make noise like the rest of our vehicles, actual electrical sensors that let you know when the pads are getting low.

I've heard BMWs has that, and the computer freaks out if you change the pads to early.

Are you looking at the Mercedes instead of the Sierra.

HAHA. NO. I will take a picture to prove to ya'll that it is giving me "Change Brakes Soon" message.

I know that I can reset the change oil message on my truck by turning the ignition key to the on position and pressing on the brake peddle 3 times pretty fast. It won't hurt to try it on yours to see if it will remove your message.
