Am I Paying Too Much For This 2009 Burb?

2009 Suburban LT

MSRP 47,830

4,000 rebate

Quoted invoice and rebate at $41,730

Am I missing any available discounts? Dealer did not mention $1,000 old age discount (car has been on lot for over 45 days) and he did not mention $500 discount instead of 60 day return option. What about financing discounts? I dont have a GM card or anything like that.

He showed me invoice and it was only 2,100 below MSRP. I thought invoice should be around 3-4K under MSRP for the burb.

Price seems high considering it's only about 13% savings.

you're probably right.

$41730 is not bad. Anything less is getting into the holdback / ad comp money and most dealers aren't that desperate to sell.

Ok, I do not own a GM. So I should be looking at another 1,500 in savings? Is the 1,000 non gm owner for every state? I can't believe I missed that on the website.

The 1000 for non gm owners is only for the equinox by the ad on the chevy site.

you should get a 2010 for that I would think.. they have been out for a while.

according to the chevy website, msrp on 2010 suburban lt's is $44,145.. depends how desperate the dealer is to sell but i think you're doing alright.

i got my 07 silverado lt for just under 21k a month ago so that might be a route you might want to take as well.

 good luck bud

it had under 25k miles and is really clean lt tx edition in the color that i wanted. i am satisfied because it's the truck i wanted and i feel like i got a good deal.. it was from a dealership with the factory warranty and the gm certified 5 year warranty as well.

you think i overpayed? still way under bluebook value although i have seen some trucks cheaper but they were private party, out of warranty, or had a salvage title.

Since it is a year later, we are going to be comparing Apples to Oranges. We purchased an '08 Suburban LT 4x4 last year. Picked it up December 23. It stickered for a little over $46k. We paid $28k + tax for it. We used the Friends and Family discount, but that only got us about 3k off sticker. A couple of things the dealer tacked on that I didn't like was the glass etching for something like $250 and the undercoating/cloth protection. They normally ask $900 for it, but I got them down to $300. All said and done, with the $700 neg equity from our Trailblazer we financed just over $32k with 0 down. Kind of suck you have to pay sales tax on the "rebated" money.

BTW, we love it. We are averaging 15 MPGs with a lot of short trips. Almost 8k miles on it now. Has yet to be back to the dealer. I did the oil change to it.

you could have bought a brand new one for that price. i got my 2009 Z71 4x4 Extended cab brand new for only $23,930.

you could have bought a brand new tx edition for under $20k.

Don't expect to find any "deals" like that around here. You can't even get an extended cab W/T 4X4 for under 23K! I paid $32,000 for my 07 SLE-2 5.3L Ext Cab 4X4 in October of 07. Best deal I could find, none of the dealers would budge going below 32K for a truck like mine. Just had my 07 aprased at a dealer and they were willing to give me 22K for trade-in. Resale value is 24-26K so not too bad.

You got a good deal! It's what you wanted, for the price you wanted to pay! 25k miles on that truck is nothing, you won't find a truck like that around here (private or dealer) for under 20k. Dealer offered me 20k for my truck. It has 40k miles on it.
