08gmc Crew Cab Lift Options?

I have an 08gmc sle crew cab 4x4 that im thinking about lifting alittle. I was looking at the rough country 3" lift but ive read to many bad things about them in a short time so im not goin to go with them now. I wanna lift my truck but still be able to fit it in my garage which has a 7ft door. I believe the truck is around 63" tall right now in stock form and i can go to about 73" before it hits the door. So i was wondering what a good lift kit/tire combo would be to keep me in the limits of the garage? Im leaning towards a 3-4" kit of some sort. Ill also be keeping my factory 20" rims for the time being as well...Let me know what you guys suggest!

No roof measurements, but IIRC my front fenders measured right around 43" with 5" of lift and 305/55/20's. My lift at that time consisted of a 3" body lift and a 2" leveling kit, but I think I really only saw about 1.5" of lift out of that leveling kit. So I was pretty close to what you want. Some simple math should tell you what you want to know.

I don't know if this will help or not, but my 09 GMC Sierra Z71 4x4 now has 4" of lift and it is level.

 

CCM 2.5" leveling kit plus 1.5" Zone body lift.

 

I have 18"x9" rims with Cooper STT LT305/60R18 tires, which have a outer diameter of 32.7".

 

The measurement from the ground to the fenderwell lip is 41.0".
