Question
mikestreed21
I drive an '06 silverado regular cab 8' box 4.8L, 4wd, manual transfer case, 6lug with 80,000 miles. I live in upstate NY. Driving down the road i have a noise. Its a vibration noise that goes in and out rhythmically with the wheel speed. What i mean is the faster the vehicle is going, the faster the vibration and the quicker between cycles. The cycles will be about 2 second of noise, the 2 second of quiet at 40. but at 70 it is closer to 1 second of noise and 1 second of quiet. nnnnnnnn ........ nnnnnnnn ........ nnnnnnnn ........ nnnnnnnn ........ It starts around 25 or 30 depending on how cold it is outside and after a while it gets quieter and eventually go away. Every once in a while it will be there permanantly for 10 seconds or so. Maybe once for each time I drive while the vehicle is "cold". Even if I let the engine warm right up, its always right there. It doesnt matter if its on gravel road, asphault concrete, snow, or whatever. I know its not the tires. Its getting worse and I can feel it in my feet through the pedals. I have had a wheel bearing go and this doesn't seem like this is it. It won't get louder or quieter in a turn. and the wheel doesn't rock top to bottom. I had the front output seal go on my transfer case. I replaced that a few months ago. I am worried I screwed something up or have a serious issue with my transfer case. Help me.
