6.2 Gas Recomedation

I have 2010 1500 with the 6.2. I love this engine but just notices after 1700 miles that the gas cover recommends premium unleaded gas or E85. What will happen if I do not use premium?/

Give it a shot and see what happens. If your engine doesnt ping on a lower grade fuel it won't hurt anything but performance. I have a feeling though that the decrease in fuel mileage will almost result in a wash.... might as well spend the extra $5 per tank to get the best gas mileage and performance out of that engine you bought.

The knock sensor will allow the PCM to retard timing so pinging wont occur.

 

I burn only 94 octane in my truck....its tuned for 94. If you crunch the numbers I actually pay less for the 94 octane compared to the regular.

I would have to buy 1 and 1/4 tanks of regular to get the same mileage as I get with the 94 octane.

You wont damage anything...thats what the knock sensor is there for. But it will produce a little less power.
