2010 F 150 Lariat

As my lease is up in March I decided to start truck shopping now. I currently have a 2007 Sierra SLT Z71. I am looking to replace it with a similar GM or perhaps a new Ford. I took the F150 for a test ride today and well it was very nice in looks, ride and comfort its power was very disappointing. My current 5.3 would blow this thing away.

The biggest thing I tow is an 18 ft boat. Is this something I should worry about when considering which to purchase? Also, what are your thoughts on Ford's 4x4 compared to GM?

The Ford was a lot more comfortable. The seats were amazing. The interior makes my GM look very outdated but that motor says stay with GM.

Not looking for any bashing just different thoughts and opinions.

I don't know, I like my trucks to be trucks, not luxury cars. Just my opinion.

A Crown Vic can tow an 18' boat.....that is not even a challenge for todays trucks.

GMs come with an actual locking diff...do the Fords? GM has a longer warranty, GM's V8s have a far better history reliability wise.

Secondly...I could not live with the "ADD" interior of the Ford:

The GM has a much nicer interior that doesn't looik like it was designed by a 4-year old.

GM has a much better 4x4 system. my last truck was a f 150. compared to the gm it's night and day. and my father sold his 99 gm and bought a 07 f 150. and he has complained about how it handles in the snow in 4x4 since the first winter he had it. he wishes he had stayed with GM. mechanical he has had no problems with the ford though. he just don't like it in the snow. he has the 4.8 and it is realy underpowered. but they say the new 4.8 with the extra vlave per cylinder has alot of grunt.

Personally I perfer GM, especially w/ the newest version of the F150 compared to th 900 series GM trucks! Though I can only vouch for the looks as I havent been in one of the new F150's. I like the basic truck look and IMHO GM is one of few that offers a real truck set up on the interior. I even think the LTZ/SLT trim level is way more truck like than the basic set up of several other makes. Like I said thats just me. Go with what makes you happy!

I have owned a 2004 F 150 FX4 (5.4L), and now own a 4WD 2009 Silverado LTZ (5.3L).

I loved the f 150. It was truly a great truck. But I love the Chevy even more, and it is hard to really say why. One reason is the definite improvement in gas mileage, but there is more to it than that. I believe the Chevy is a bit more responsive, but perhaps the most important distinction between the two is that the Chevy somehow FEELS more like a pickup truck, even though I went with the upgraded automobile-like interiors in both cases. My octogenarian mother exclaimed on the first day I showed her the truck that it is "a lot better looking than your Ford," and maybe that is something valuable. I think my mom the old timer farm girl had it right -- Chevys simply look more like a truck. I think part of that is the extraordinary and disproportionate depth to the Ford truck bed, which makes it look just a little odd. Not sure, obviously, but I do know that you would not be unhappy with a Chevy or GMC

my experience is that fords are hauling trucks and chevys are go-fast trucks. i drove my buddy's 3/4 ton with the d-max pulling a 3 horse gooseneck (not even that big). he had airbags and all kinds of stuff on it and whoa let me tell you what...a scary drive it was, the power was definitely there but the ride was all over the road. he said everything he has done made it a tad better, but not much. i love my chevy, but fords are for towing and hauling.

I think you hit the nail on the head. I went and test drove a 2010 KR F150 with Sync Nav and it impressed the hell out of me. I was getting out of an 06 F150 so I didn't think it would be much of a difference. But it is much more refined than the 06 as well as the GMT900s.

But I was tired of a lack of power so the 6.2l won out even though I thought the Ford was superior in many areas. Looks and power not being two of those areas.

OP. I'm sure the Ford is a perfectly good and long lasting vehicle but there is no way I could live with the terrible front end styling and that awful interior. Who the hell designed that interior? WOW!

To me it is almost as if everything blends together and nothing stands out but maybe it's me I mean the Ford's are nice looking trucks but I still wouldn't trade my Chevy for one.
