On my 04 Tahoe my stereo is cutting in and out ( sometimes pass frt speaker will start sounding staticy and rear drvr speaker not playing at all ). I had an aftermarket cd player hooked and I thought my amp was messed up. So I took it all out and hooked up the factory unit back up and it is still doing the same thing. I have read about a factory amp somewhere. If so where is it and can I bypass it and how? Thanks!!

Sounds like a bad speaker to me. It's a common problem with the OEM speakers.

I have change all the oem speakers. I have new speakers. And I have even switched them around and it still cracks from the pass side.

check the wiring that goes through the loom at the door. Sometimes that gets pretty dry rotted and brittle.

The factory amp is typically under the center console, or under dash below the stereo depending on how your truck is set up. I am not really sure where it is in that year Tahoe.

The best way to bypass it would be to run new speaker wire from the head unit to each speaker.

OK! I have reran all the speaker wires and bypass the amp or crossovers. All the speakers are working good now, But my radio (sound) will not come on for awhile sometimes it takes driving about 10-20 miles before it comes on. The display is lit up and plays CDs but no sound until it decides to come on. When it does come on it sounds great. It has been doing this since I hooked it back up after removing an aftermarket CD player.

My aftermarket player was wore out and the buttons were sticking and my speakers sounded blown sometimes. The other day I decided to hook the factory unit back up and it only came on when it wanted to but, the speakers would get staticy sometimes. So I bypassed the amp today and it sounds good now when the sound does play. When I took my factory unit out first time it worked fine but now it is not.
