Does Anyone Know Anything About Dishwashers?

I have a really expensive dishwasher ($1600) and recently it will not drain all the way. It has a 2" deep puddle in the bottom. I have to wet vac it out and then it runs a cycle but only to have a puddle of water at the end of the cycle. I cannot wet vac everytime the girlfriend does the dishes so would I need a new pump? Any idea what part I need?

Thanks...

Sounds like the drain hose does not have a vacuum leak. In other words when the pump shuts off the water runs back into the dishwasher and pulls the water that has already been pumped out, back into it. Or the drain hose has too much rise and or too much length and the water in the hose pulls back when the pump stops. Make sure the drain hose only comes up about 3 ft max rise and length and make sure the hose is not taped or siliconed tight sealing it too the drain hose,as it needs to breath at the joint.

Vacuum breaker or air gap are the terms.

Also check:

Drain line is not kinked or obstructed.

Clogged filter or strainer

Clogged pump

Your unit may have a drain valve or solenoid that is not operating properly

I have an Asko 1585, and the same pump that does the cycle also does the draining. I have had to replace the control board on mine already because of a burnt component. You also could have a bad solenoid valve like someone else said.

I am betting on the control board being bad. Be prepared for what they want to replace it. Hey, you DID buy an expensive machine....

Good luck

PS : One other thing I did think of. Is the unit hooked to a garbage disposal? If so, food could have backed up into the drain. I also have had that happen once when someone put food in the disposal, but did not turn it on and grind it up....

They are super quiet dishwashers though, and they do a good job.

Ok thanks guys I am going to run a cycle tomorrow, hopefully this fixes things...

Yes it is so quiet you cannot even hear it running if you are standing in the kitchen. With my old dishwasher I would have to turn up the TV when it was on :flag:

I'm puzzled. You mean the girlfriend and the dishwasher are two separate units?

I wish we got MORE topics like this in the OT area. Damn good info can be had. You wouldn't believe the stuff I've learned in the Lounge on LS1GTO.
