Cb Radio Doesn't Work

I have a CB radio hooked up in my truck and it powers on and everything works except I can't hear any sound and I have no indication that it is making any transmissions. It was working the last time it was used so I don't think that it is the radio itself. The antenna was unplugged for a while, so there is a chance that something may be caught between the connection. Is it possible that it just won't work at all without an antenna or should I look at the handset?

Did you key up the mic without the antenna on it?

If so then you have F#@^ed the CB.

 

You may also want to try a new mic with the antenna hooked on.

You will fry the crystals inside the cb if you key it up without a antenna.
