New Tire Sensors

I am changing wheels and tires today from factory 20" Sierra Denali wheels with all weather tires to factory All Terrain wheels with all terrain tires. The All Terrain wheels came with GMC tire pressure sensors. I plan to leave the tires mounted on the 20s and sell them. So I will need my truck to recognize the sensors in the All Terrain wheels.

I have found the learn new tire positions option in the DIC. Can I use this to tell the truck it has new sensors?

Or do I need to do something else?

Thanks

You owners manual has the procedure. IF you don't have a manual do a search for tpms sensor relearn on this site. There was instruction posted at one time. It's not hard but is a little more than pushing just the button.

Tell my dealer that. Moron just pressed the button, horn honked, and he said "ok it's done" well the pressures weren't all the same, and they didn't show up in the right places.

After the horn honks you have to start letting air out of the tires (only requires to be a little let out) in a certain sequence until it honks again.

I know, I had tried that 10 times before going to the dealer which didn't work. So I bought the OTC tool, the amount of time it takes to walk around the truck plus a few seconds and no more screwing with the air pressure.

I've used the procedure in the manual. It takes a minute or two of letting air out of the first tire before the body computer recognizes it, then the remaining 3 tires go pretty quick. I've done it a few times and it goes smoothly. The first time I did it, I didn't give the first tire enought time during the air bleed procedure. The tool would be nice, but the one's I saw were around $100. For that much, I'll bleed some air for the few times I do this process.
