Installed Seat Lift

Folks, I thought about installing one of those ebay seat lift kits about 2 years ago. We talked about it again more recently. I just tonight installed one of the sets under my driver's seat (GMT-800). If you have a truck with manual seats you absolutely have to install one of these sets. The guy who sells them on ebay is really nice, I had a good phone conversation with him. He will take anything back if you don't want it. I'm telling you, this thing is so much more comfortable now. It is like night and day. If I sound like a salesman it's because I can't believe the difference.

Here's the guy's store, it's kind of pricey but it is actually pretty solid hardware (I was a little worried).

I'd rather somebody sell seat lowering kits so that my eyes were more level with the center horizon of the windshield. I'm tired of leaning forward to be able to see traffic lights.

That's pretty cool. I'm assuming the modification doesn't affect safety (i.e., shear strength, etc.)?

I have to agree I wish my 07 was lower.

Did GM raise the seats at some point? The OP raised his 2004, I would like my 2003 raised and the 2007,2008 guys want theirs lowered. Is this just coincidence?

I believe that the dash height was lowered on the NBS (07+) trucks. The GMT800 dash sits pretty high, making it feel like the front seats are too low. It is also possible that they raised the seat height somewhat on the GMT 900s.

I have electric seats in my '09 and wish that they were higher. My back feels better when I sit up higher. It would be pushing the envelope with regard to my position on the windshield though.

I just know that being 6'3" I really needed to be higher so my feet could go more down than just straight out. This kit really worked. Made a huge difference. I feel pretty confident about the strength of the hardware. Seems pretty solid. I know the electric seats could be raised. However, my manual seats just weren't cutting it, they were just too low. My back would get to hurting and I couldn't get comfortable.

I've installed a few washers under the seat of almost every vehicle I've owned. I just like to be up a little higher than most I guess. Not much, maybe 1/8" or so. If it's a manual seat, I'll raise the front a bit more than the back for a bit of lean in the bottom cushion.
