bwellard10 Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 I am looking at purchasing a 2003 (LB7) crew cab 4x4 loaded with all the options. I am curious how much a dealer or good independant shop would charge to replace all eight injectors? Has anyone found a common cause for white smoke at all RPM's? When it is idling, you can see smoke out the passinger window. It has plenty of power, a little turbo lag and no codes. The oil was just changed and did not smell like diesel. Could it be the injection pump or a turbo seal? Thanks for the help.

Silverado4x4 Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 It depends on how much smoke your talking about, a little bit of smoke in cold weather is normal till it gets warmed up. Are you smelling the new oil or the old oil? They may have changed the oil so it will not smell like diesel till it gets more fuel mixed all through it, they may be trying to hide it. Being its a 03 the replacement if the injectors is covered on a 7 year 200,000 mile warrenty, but if its out of warrenty the dealer will be around $5000.00 to replace all injectors with labor. If you can do it yourself each injector is about 300 dollars but you have to pull the heads and need a special tool kit to remove the injectors, not a simple job but the LLY motor is pretty easy.
